Our basement family room is really coming together. And today, I’m excited to be finally sharing the DIY storage console that Ryan built (last Christmas) and I painted (over the summer).
Better late than never, am I right?
an unconventional home

I may have dragged my feet on fall in our home. But now it’s officially fall, and I’m gradually beginning to add autumn touches into our home.
It doesn’t happen overnight, but that’s okay.
I gradually add the fall touches to our house, which makes it fun instead of stressful. That means I’m always on the lookout for fun, seasonal decor inspiration. Because I’m not doing it overnight, I can make changes and adjustments throughout fall.

During my spending freeze month, I added a few tobacco baskets to the stairway, and I was loving how it looked.
But as I was adjusting things in my home this month, I tweaked the area a little more. I decided I wanted to add some family photos to this area – and I think it turned out cute.

I love fall. Truly, I love it so much. And I know there are plenty of people out there searching for all the pumpkins and fall-i-fying every surface in your home.
Which is totally awesome. You get your pumpkin spice on, girl.
I may be enjoying my favorite Pumpkin Pie Blizzards at DQ like it’s going out of style, but it’s just not time to decorate for fall yet in my home.

In the fantasyland inside my head, elves come into my house while I’m getting my much-needed beauty sleep and finish all the projects I dream of. It’s like my own version of The Elves and the Shoemaker. Only I’m not a shoemaker and the elves need to be skilled carpenters.
When I wake up in the morning, my hair looks perfect and my projects are fully completed and cleaned up.
I’m not sure what’s less likely to happen – waking up with perfect hair or having a fully completely project overnight.
(Psst: Probably the hair.)
All of this build-up is to explain that projects in real life can take time, money and lots of begging. (It can’t just be me who has to beg.)
