If you are new around here … sometimes I have a tendency to go a little “overboard.”
Case in point: Pumpkins.
The truth is – I just want to acquire them all. A couple pumpkins is never enough for me. I just feel like more is always more when it comes to pumpkins.
Also related, my baby is turning one. I’m verklepmt. She’s crawling and standing up and I know she’s going to want to walk at some point. And I can only push her over so many times before she figures it out.
How does this relate to pumpkins, you ask?
Well, her birthday party is going to be a pumpkin party. Which gives me unrestricted access to buy all the pumpkins. Which is a great way to take my mind off the fact that she’s going to grow up and go to college and leave me forever.
(Pumpkins are helping, though.)
Let’s get back to pumpkins. The front porch is reaching pumpkin nirvana. And I’m pleased. Very pleased.
The number of pumpkins on the stairs feels just right.
Ryan, on the other hand, doesn’t understand the pumpkin obsession. He also doesn’t understand why I had to make a second trip to the pumpkin patch to get a few (4) corn stalks and more pumpkins. He thought there were enough pumpkins already. (Imagine me cackling with laughter at his joke.)
Also, HE is the one who built a house with so many front porch stairs. He put me into this position. And the only way to tackle the stairs is to ADD MORE PUMPKINS.
He had to know it would happen.
Now the only thing we are missing is mums. I am trying to talk myself out of buying mums because I will most certainly kill them.
But self doesn’t take well to rational arguments or thinking. So I’m sure mums are coming soon, too.
And don’t forget my little pumpkin topiaries at the door. And a little buffalo check rug. It’s such a welcoming entry, don’t you think?
The only person who sees it is UPS, but that’s okay. He’s an important member of our family. Arguably more important than some who are actually family. (KIDDING. notkidding)
Which reminds me – at the pumpkin patch, a very nice (and confused) woman asked me about all the pumpkins. I told her that I had a big porch and it was practically begging me for more pumpkins.
And then she told me that she’d love to do that but she lives in the country and no one would see it.
Ryan gave me a smirk and the side-eye. Because obviously we live in the country where no one can really see our pumpkins (aside from blog readers like you and the UPS man, of course)
So I told her (and Ryan), “If all the pumpkins make you smile, it doesn’t matter if anyone else sees them.”
Amen and amen.
Where do you fall on the pumpkin spectrum? Many or few?

It’s so sad that your lady at the pumpkin patch doesn’t get pumpkins that she likes/wants/has to have because no one will see them. SHE will see them and that’s all that matters. I hope she took your comments to heart and bought a few for herself.
And no, there is no such thing as too many pumpkins or gourds. Just don’t make me eat any.
