Tackling home projects when you’re on a spending freeze

July 11, 2018 by Kim Woodward

The year is halfway over. I’m finally getting the hang of writing 2018 instead of 2017, so I’m ahead of the game.

Two things often happen this time of year in our household.

We realize there are SO MANY PROJECTS we wanted to finish that haven’t even been started. #outoftime
We spend some time looking closely at our budget and SHUT DOWN ALL SPENDING. #outofmoney
Yes. I realize these two things are in direct contrast to one another. Such is life.

Easy summer curb appeal tips

June 27, 2018 by Kim Woodward

Every year, we take some small steps to improve the curb appeal of our home. After building our own home two years ago, our yard was pretty much just dirt.

So every change – no matter how small – makes a huge difference in making the front of our home look a little more welcoming and beautiful.

Our simple summer patio tour (with a view)

June 20, 2018 by Kim Woodward

Screened porch season has arrived. Turn on the ceiling fan, grab a glass of iced tea, and let your worries melt away. For real. If you need me, I’m on our DIY screened porch. I’m happy to be joining The Happy Housie again for her Summer Simplicity Porch and Patio tours. There are so many […]

Our simple summer home tour

June 12, 2018 by Kim Woodward

Summertime is here – and so is our summer home tour.

Now that school is out, we love having my son home during the day. He loved kindergarten, but there’s nothing like sweet summertime. And in between the zoo and museum and splash pad and camp, we are spending lots of time around the house.

An Americana Summer Mantel

May 30, 2018 by Kim Woodward

Memorial Day has come and gone – and that means all the red, white and blue.

I’m not mad about it. Americana decor is my jam – and it just feels right in our farmhouse.

Easy patriotic burlap wreath

May 23, 2018 by Kim Woodward

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner – and if you are new around here, that means I’m currently throwing red, white and blue around the house like confetti.

Oooooo….. confetti. That’s an idea.

I just love all things Americana. There’s something about summer that feels so patriotic, and our farmhouse just begs me to cover it in stars and stripes. As part of 2018’s Red, White and Blue-ing, I’ve also been cleaning and sprucing up the back porch. I thought this large wooden star needed a dose of the grand ol’ flag.
