Freeze it!

June 8, 2010 by Kim Woodward

(Please sing the title above to Michael Jackson’s “Beat it.” Ryan and I did. Four times.) We’ve been getting lazy about cooking at home lately. Well, mostly, I’ve gotten lazy. I get home from work or school and I don’t feel like cooking/don’t have anything defrosted/would prefer to go out. So, we go out. I […]

I’ve been redeemed…

June 2, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I’ve been redeemed…by The Pioneer Woman. You may remember my kitchen disaster, starring The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook. (If you don’t, read it. I won’t be upset if you laugh at my expense.) I haven’t made anything else from her book since. We were taking a break, so to speak. But, last weekend, I remembered a […]

A Friday "Wow" Moment

May 28, 2010 by Kim Woodward

Do you ever learn something, and think, “Wow… how did I never know that?” Well, that’s what I thought when I read about this tip for keeping herbs. According to the most recent issue of Whole Living magazine, you can keep your herbs fresh and perky for a week (or more) by keeping them in a […]

Can-do spirit

May 17, 2010 by Kim Woodward

With the garden go-go-going, I enrolled in a class at our local University extension to learn about preserving foods from the garden. The class covers hot water bath canning, pressure canning, jams and jellies, freezing, pickling, salsa and more. (And if you haven’t checked out your own University extension, get Googling. The resources they provide […]

Egg-cellent

March 25, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I picked up these pretties from Miss Effie (love her) yesterday. They are so pretty, I didn’t think I’d be able to eat them. On second thought… I’ve got a hankering for a buttery, sunny-side-up. She even said she just got them from her chickens that morning. Talk about farm-fresh. And, the pretty colors don’t hurt.

Greek chicken penne with artichokes and feta

February 26, 2010 by Kim Woodward

There are few ingredients I love more than artichokes and feta cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. If there is an item on a restaurant menu with one or, Lord help me, both ingredients, you can nearly guarantee I will order it. Then wolf it down. With little regard for the small […]
