Sconce light fixture tour (bathrooms and bedroom)

May 23, 2016 by Kim Woodward

Now that our sconces are all installed, I thought I’d share all our final choices. Light fixtures take a lot of time to nail down, and they can get very expensive. I ended up choosing things on a budget – but I think they were great choices.

Obviously, we are still in a state of total construction, but I know you’ll understand. (Check out our downstairs light fixture tour, too.)

Master bedroom

I already mentioned that I wanted to go for swing-arm sconces in the bedroom in oil rubbed bronze. But that was more difficult than I expected to find them for a decent price.

Then I found the Kenroy Home Swing Arm lamp on Amazon. Note: Some of the links to light fixtures are affiliate links.

It had good reviews and were only $55 when I purchased. My father-in-law was able to install them as built-in sconces (although a cord and cover were also included if you were going to plug them in). oil rubbed bronze swing arm sconce budget1

They are bigger than I anticipated, but it worked out well with such a tall space.

Obviously, they will look even better with the plastic of the shade, but I love the linen-look and the warm tone of the shade. And I love that they are super simple to move.oil rubbed bronze swing arm sconce budget3

Upstairs bathroom

Next up is the upstairs bathroom. (Check out this bathroom’s inspiration.)

For this room, I wanted something traditional and chrome. I found a great schoolhouse style sconce on Amazon at less than $50 each.

It was hard for me to get a good photo of them with the light on, but they really blend well with the rest of the bathroom. They are really similar to the sconces in our last home, and will have a white traditional medicine cabinet in the center of the two sconces.chrome schoolhouse sconces2

Downstairs bathroom

We’re ending the sconce tour in the downstairs bathroom. (Check out this bathroom’s inspiration – though you’ll notice we went with a different wall color than we planned.)

Henry is very confused about this bathroom. He asked me repeatedly what it’s for. “What is this bathroom for though?” Mostly because he’s never lived in a house with more than one bathroom. And he has no idea why we would ever need more than one bathroom. Which totally cracks us up.

Anyhow, back to the sconces. These may be my favorites.

The Savoy House Monroy 1-Light Sconce in Classic Bronze. I have been coveting these sconces for YEARS. (I originally pinned them over a year ago when Simply Seleta shared them in an affordable lighting round-up.)

And at only $78/sconce, they are pretty affordable and have an upscale look. One of them came with a damaged shade, but the seller sent out a new shade within 24 hours.

They do have a silly sticker on the “candle” part, which I need to work on removing. But I love the look. I purchased a great round mirror to put in the center of the sconces.

What do you think of our choices? I think they look great for affordable price tags – sconces can be super expensive.

I have so much to share about the house and our progress – it’s coming along beautifully. Just gotta find the time to take photos and write posts. But trust me, it’s getting so good. (And my arms and shoulders are hurting so badly from all the trim and cabinet painting.)

Love them! You’re handling all these overwhelming and endless decisions so beautifully. And Henry’s bathroom comment is cracking me up!

Kim the lights look lovely, you did a great job picking them all out. I agree the downstairs bathroom lights are my favorite too. Nice job friend.
