Our fall home tour

September 19, 2016 by Kim Woodward

It’s a beautiful day for a beautiful day, my friends!

And I think it’s an extra fun Monday – because it’s the start of the Fall Home Tours, hosted by Meg at Green with Decor. There are 33 more fall home tours this week which means you’ll get incredible inspiration for your home. I’m so excited to be part of it!

If you are new to NewlyWoodwards, WELCOME! Come on in and stay awhile.

First up … the front porch.

square-images-newlywoodwards-fall-tour5

This year’s decor is all pumpkins, all the time. I pared down a lot of our fall decorations when we moved and I’m still working out how everything fits in our house. But this fall, I’ve added a few new items, along with stocking up on real pumpkins at the local pumpkin patch.

I may have gone overboard on the pumpkins. Or not.

Inside the house, the pumpkin extravaganza continues. Like, in the mudroom.

And even the kitchen got a few pumpkin-tastic additions. I’m realizing it doesn’t take much to make the house feel like fall. Just about 3 dozen pumpkins. fall-kitchen-newlywoodwards2

And our new open shelves are looking so great with the dark interiors. The perfect backdrop for all my treasures. square-images-newlywoodwards-fall-tour2

In the dining room … I wanted to create a fall inspired table with some touches of navy blue. I think orange and navy are such a great, modern color combo.

Even our corner hutch got the pumpkin treatment.

This area is all open to each other, so I think it was important that it flows. I love this view into the dining room.

I still have some serious plans for this fireplace area, but I’m so happy with how warm and cozy it feels. fall-mantel-decor-inspiration3
And the living room got a small dose of fall colors – orange, navy and brown. living-room-fall-decor-inspiration02

While we don’t have a lot of walls, we have several hutches for display – this has been a new way to flex my decorating muscles.

Before you go, let’s take a quick trip outside – the back porch got just a tiny bit of fall festivity.

And swapping out a few planters with fall plants is the perfect way to transition into fall.

The garden by our barn is also infused with fall color – and more pumpkins. (Check out more about our rustic wheelbarrow.)

And our FALL scrabble tiles went back up on the barn. outdoor-fall-decorating-inspiration2

Thank you so much for stopping by our home’s fall tour.

I’ll be sharing a lot more details about our decor in the coming weeks, but until then, stop by all of the other blogs for tons of great inspiration for the season.

It’s really hard to photograph, but it’s a copper sign I bought on super clearance years ago at a boutique. It says “Welcome Friends” with a pineapple.

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 21, 2016 at 7:58 AM

Thank you so much, Kim! Those scrabble letters were so silly easy – I meant to make more for every season (but it never happened).

  11. Bre says

    September 20, 2016 at 8:11 PM

Kim! What an adorable tour. I loved the pumpkin extravaganza! 🙂 Those Scrabble tiles on your barn are amazing – I need some! And I noticed your lightbox in your hutch – I want one of those!! I spotted it at Paper Source yesterday and almost bought it . . . now I’m kicking myself. 🙂

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 21, 2016 at 7:59 AM

Thanks so much for the kind comments! You must make yourself some scrabble letters – these were just using scraps and SO simple and fast.

As for the lightbox, I have used the heck out of it. (I found mine at Hobby Lobby and used a 40 percent off coupon. Make it more affordable.)

  12. Sara says

    September 20, 2016 at 8:03 PM

Overboard on pumpkins?! No way!!! LOL Seriously, adorable tour. I loved everything about it!!!!

  14. Tara @ Lehman Lane says

    September 20, 2016 at 11:55 AM

What a fabulous fall tour Kim! You will the prize for having the best pumpkins!!! I love the ones next your front door.

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 20, 2016 at 12:07 PM

Thanks so much, Tara! I went to a local farm for all the pumpkins and they are legitimately the best ever pumpkins. Plus, I think I ended up paying around $1/each. (Which is insanity.)

  15. Amy @ My Life From Home says

    September 20, 2016 at 8:44 AM

So cute! Loved your tour. The burlap garland, the wheel barrel and all your pumpkins make it so cozy and warm!! Great job.

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 20, 2016 at 10:26 AM

Thanks, Amy! It’s a fun time to decorate!

  16. Debbie Mundorff says

    September 20, 2016 at 7:22 AM

Your home is wonderful! I have a question where and how do you store all of the things removed to place your Fall items out?? thanks!

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 20, 2016 at 10:28 AM

That’s a great question – I did store away some things in the cabinets of my kitchen (under the open shelves). But there wasn’t a heckuva lot that needed to be stored away. (Not sure WHY that is. I did try to integrate stuff that I Have out all year – like vases, trays, baskets, etc. And all my white serving ware is always out. So there wasn’t that much extra stuff to store.)

During the holidays, I actually pack away some of my stuff and store it in my Christmas tubs. That makes it easy to find when I take all my holiday decor down in January.

  17. Kristen Windle says

    September 20, 2016 at 5:30 AM

looks fantastic! love that front porch and i see you hit up the target “dollar spot” like me. that gather banner and the burlap pumpkins were too cute to pass up! happy fall! 🙂

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 20, 2016 at 10:29 AM

They had some great scores this year. The pumpkins were a great find! (And I totally found them on a cart before they put them out on the shelves, which was lucky because that stuff goes fast.)

  18. Maria Brittis says

    September 19, 2016 at 9:36 PM

I love all the textures for the pumpkins, they are so much fun to look at! Your home is so pretty and you have done an amazing job decorating for this home tour.

That burlap pumpkin wreath has me drooling. Any details on where you got it/how you made it?

    • Kim Woodward says

      September 19, 2016 at 2:42 PM

Isn’t that adorable? I Picked it up at a local boutique/florist, but I have been totally thinking about how I could recreate the look. I think it was a wholesale item – it looks a lot like this guy – http://www.wayfair.com/Mills-Floral-Burlap-Pumpkin-Wreath-FMV1288.html?refid=BPIN49. (I didn’t buy it here, but it looks really similar to me and is around the same price.)

      • Felicity says

        September 19, 2016 at 6:37 PM

Thanks for taking the time to post the kink to the lookalike wreath.
