I think our halls are sufficiently decked. There may be less area in our small space, but it’s still feeling pretty festive in the barn.

I like to make small changes every year. This year, my favorite change – A TREE! I spotted this wall-hung tree at Farm & Fleet and Had. To. Have. It.
I was feeling a little glum about being tree-less, and this fills the void. It almost looks like a tomato cage from the back, it’s pre-lit, and even includes the half-basket at the bottom. I didn’t dig out all our ornaments, but I added some vintage Christmas lights ornaments and have been hanging Christmas cards we’ve received in the mail. (The gift box below is the perfect area to display our personalized snowman made by my great aunt.)
The kitchen got a festive makeover with our Christmas lights Fiestaware dishes.
I also picked up this small marquis from Michael’s. It’s the perfect touch.
The Let It Snow sign was also a new addition – I picked it up locally at Urban Farmhouse.
I found a tiny sliver of wall to hang the stockings with care (and the cute little elf my friend Mel made for Henry.)
I’m also loving these Santa hat chair covers. I bought enough to do 8 chairs next year, but only needed 2 for the barn.
Our living room also got a dose of holiday cheer – I love having the built-in shelves for decorating. 
These cute little metal houses were also found at Michael’s. I can’t wait to display my momma’s Dept. 56 village next year, but this tides me over for our small space.
The red tree was a craft night project last month! We painted the trees at my great-aunt’s studio. My friends suggested red to me, and it really is my style.
The Santa plate was a playgroup Sharpie craft. The left Santa was a gift from Ryan when we returned from Germany.
The other side of the television has a lighted tree canvas I picked up in Bishop Hill. And there’s also a full shelf for all Henry’s Christmas books. It’s nice to have them easily accessible. And I like to pack them away with our decorations.
Oh, and even the barn door got in on the action – this sign was created by my friend Jen at Onion Grove Mercantile.
And with that, I’m calling the barn “done” for the holidays. Now, we can just enjoy the twinkle lights and Christmas cheer.

hanging tree–perfect! I think I said some variation of this last year, but I kind of love the idea of having a smaller space to decorate for Christmas…I feel like I could do a great job with a small space instead of feeling overwhelmed and scattered.

I did! Forgot to mention that. I actually bought a flannel sheets set and used the flat sheet to make two curtains and then used the excess for the tablecloth on the island. 😉
Girl, you are putting me to shame. We don’t even have our tree yet, thanks to a tummy bug that came to visit last week. UGH.

Henry and I were talking about Santa coming the other night and he got really thoughtful. When I asked what was the matter, he said, “The barn doesn’t have a chimney. How will Santa get inside?” we agreed that he’ll use the door and tiptoe.
SO cute! I think you’ve done about 5 times as much decorating in your little space as I’ve done in our entire townhouse 😛 We still don’t have a tree . . . I am just out of it this year I guess. Fly out and help me get it together, please.
My favorite thing in the whole entire barn is that door. I just want to come over and take it off the hinges and take it back to my place. So if it ever goes missing you know where it went. :p Everything looks so cozy. I love it!

They are by Fiestaware, and I got them at Younkers. They usually have them online, too, if you search Fiesta holiday lights dishes
I am so excited about your new house, but I have to admit: I will be sad when the barn updates are fewer! It’s so festive and cozy. What are you going to do with the barn? Rent it out? I vote for Mom Cave. 🙂
I’m hoping to move my craft stuff into the barn, but we’ll also use it as a guest space. I also have been thinking about putting it on airbnb for kicks.
