Next up in our Christmas home tour – our living room. It’s also feeling festive and cozy for the holidays with pops of red and buffalo check. One thing that’s changed in my decor is making it much more comfortable and kid-friendly.
I love a beautiful holiday home, but I also don’t want anything to be too precious.
My kids hang out here with us and play here. I have learned to be realistic and manage my expectations. So this is the area that focuses on fun and cozy touches.
It’s Christmastime at the Woodwards, and I am loving all the festive touches in our kitchen and home. Any excuse to add more red to my home is okay by me.

(You can check out all of our past holiday decor here.) It has nothing to do with the blog. I just love to decorate all the nooks and crannies for Christmas. Every single little touch makes me smile.
It’s that (most wonderful) time of the year again. When everywhere you look, you’re greeted by the evidence that the holidays are right around the corner.
The radios are playing carols.
The stores are stuffed to the gills with gifts and decor.
The coffee shops have replaced pumpkin with peppermint everything.
If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know that I love decorating my son’s room for Christmas. It’s just a fun tradition to do together.
Since he was born, we’ve been decking those halls. And as he gets older, he takes pride in taking the lead on the “design decisions.” Like the year he decided he wanted a full-size dinosaur tree.
Our living room is feeling extra cozy for the holidays. There’s something special about the glow of Christmas tree lights and the warmth of a fire. And don’t forget all those blankets. Because we need them in December. It’s coooooooold out there.
Our living room really looks a lot different than the last time I shared it here. We got a new-to-us sofa, pulled up a chair from the basement, and added curtains and a new ticking stripe chair. It wasn’t really planned. It started with the new sofa and snowballed from there.
As we settle into the third Christmas in our home, I’m getting a really good feel for what works and what doesn’t. I’m not someone who re-thinks my decor every year. I like what I like and I use what I use. Sometimes, I tweak things and rearrange. But mostly, our home feels the same […]
