A successful Pinterest party for Dress for Success Quad Cities

September 23, 2013 by Kim Woodward

How many times do you pin something, only for it to vanish into the abyss of Pinterest, never to be seen or heard from again?

Yeah. I know.  A lot.

I have thousands of pins to prove it.

But that’s exactly what this Very Pinteresting Party was all about. A few weeks ago, I told you about a very special party I was co-hosting to support Dress for Success Quad Cities.

The idea was to do some crafting in one night for a great cause. Completing projects that you may love and pin but never get around to actually DOing. Here are my partners in crime – Michelle from Decor and the Dog and Theresa.

The event was fabulous. We ended up with 35 women making three crafts and eating yummy food. We provided the food and supplies and asked guests to donate to the local organization. We raised more than $1,200 to help women entering the workforce. So, I consider that a success!

We held the event in a great space at our local library. We covered all the tables in Kraft paper and we were ready to roll.

Here are the three projects we tackled – tree slice chalkboards, fabric flowers and sugar scrub.

My biggest suggestion if you are hosting a Pinterest Party of your own is to enlist the help of friends. Because there were three of us, we each took charge on one craft – providing supplies and instructions for all the guests.

Michelle’s craft – yummy-smelling sugar scrub.

Theresa’s craft was fabric flowers from scraps.

And my  contribution was chalkboards made from tree slices. (I’ll share more on this later this week.)

All guests also took home a pretty sweet swag bag from local sponsors.

And don’t even get me started on these adorable (and delicious) cupcakes by the talented Michelle.Very Pinteresting Parties1

I think everyone had a wonderful time! I’m so thankful to have such wonderful friends who are willing to support women and have fun while they are at it!

I love the fabric flowers you girls are awesomely inspiring. Seriously. How do you find the time Mrs. Kim? I’ll blame my lack of motivation on the large growing belly since we both have a toddler :o)
