I don’t consider myself trendy. I still wear bootcut jeans. I can’t pull off headbands or head pieces. I prefer $4 bottles of wine for Aldi. I don’t own a single piece of white upholstered furniture.
But this wreath may fool you into thinking I’m pretty hip and cool. Because I ended up combining three of the most trendy materials into this wreath without even realizing it. Heck. Maybe they aren’t even trendy anymore … it’s sort of like me wearing Uggs ten years after they were actually popular.
This project started with another tree trunk slice (also used as chalkboards and chargers). It had a whole in the center and was begging me to turn it into a wreath.
Then, I rediscovered a metal wreath form that was just larger than the tree slice. I remembered all the amazing burlap wreaths that I’ve seen around the blogosphere. You can find great instructions at Top This Top That. Since I already had the the burlap, the twill tape and the form, this was an inexpensive project.
And, then I remembered I had leftover chalkboard paint.
I just couldn’t help myself. In the span of 20 minutes, I had a fun and trendy wreath for my front door that is perfect for fall. And I used things I had in the house.
It’s a lovely addition to the front porch, which was already feeling quite chalkboard-y.

Love your wreath, and front porch decorations! Seriously so cute!
On a more shameful note, I have never used chalkboard paint. I know I’m a terrible blogger.
I love the chalkboard idea…it looks great on your red door!
Awesome! Love the combo!! 🙂
So cute! Fun to combine all those trends… they work so well together!! Looks fabulous on your pretty front porch:) No more bootcut jeans for me – I am so thrilled about how comfy tights are that I can’t even remember wearing jeans anymore!!
Ohhhhhhhhhh, this is awesome. I’m loving what you did. And I still rock some boot cut jeans every once in a while…I like to switch things up! 😉
It looks great! You can never have too many chalkboards on your front porch, right?
You know I love me some burlap, which reminds me I need to go stock up on that stuff before it sells out at Christmas! I just feel like your front porch is perfectly suited for Fall!
I bought some skinny jeans for my (skinny) 7 year old, but I’ll not be doing the same for myself anytime in the near….well, ever. Love the wreath! Definitely add some chevron to that thing 😉
MORRE chalkboards! but i love this one too. how clever. I have twooo pumpkin posts for tomorrow for your link up. I am really getting into this fall stuff 🙂
LOL at bootcut jeans. I finally got a pair of skinnies not too long ago. ALso, up until last year I didn’t get why smart phones were all the rage. I happily pranced around (a la Sound of Music Julie Andrews spinning amongst the mountains style) with my flip phone.
I want to move into your home. I can sleep on the fall decorated porch & be so happy.
You crack me up! You are trendy! I mean you have to be just look at your chalkboard writing skills!!
My little blogger mind just exploded! I want a chalkboard wreath. ~pouts~
So cute -and what a great combination of materials!
YOU ARE ON FIRE! Look at you go! This wreath is amazing to the max.
So cute. I love this! And bootcut jeans are out? Oops hahaha!
Oh, I love Cassie’s idea! So smart! It looks great, and it’s the perfect addition to your already perfect porch.
so cute!!! i think that it could be used year round, too, and just change the accessories and drawing! like in the spring add some blue eggs. 😉
Sigh- this looks so lovely. I really like this addition. Dang- I need to jump on the chalkboard/burlap decor wagon. I still wear bootcut jeans so apparently I’m behind the times too- but in my defense, I have giant feet and skinny jeans just help to accentuate them!!
