A tour of the barn bathroom and bedroom

October 2, 2014 by Kim Woodward

Time for another quick barn update today – the bathroom and Henry’s bedroom. Both are roughly the same size.

The bathroom is really coming together nicely. Just a few things to do with the tub surround and tub faucet. But the outside looks great.

A working light fixture, faucet, shower curtain, and medicine cabinet installed by my dad …

We also hung the shower rod and curtain. (The shower curtain was originally from Pottery Barn, but it was a hand-me-down from Ryan’s mom that I’ve been stowing away for a few years.) The shower curtain was blowing from the open window. There’s actually more space between the toilet and shower than it appears.Barn bathroom NewlyWoodwards4
It’s such a tiny space that getting great photos is hard. But it’s actually so useful, you don’t really even notice it’s tiny footprint. It really feels more spacious than our current bathroom.

Next to the bathroom is a teeny, tiny bedroom for Henry. It will fit a dresser and a bed. All a toddler needs, am I right?

Part of the space-saving comes from the pocket doors Ryan installed from antique doors. They don’t eat up any floor space and they look great, too.

So that’s our little tour of our bathroom and Henry’s bedroom. Still a few more details to finish, but I am so happy with how everything is coming together.

What’s your favorite part of the space?

So cute! I’m curious what the actual dimensions of the rooms are. I’m amazed at how much you’re doing with so little space.

The bedroom is around 5×9. Actually a little less than that. =)

Thank you, Lucy! What a very sweet comment to receive. And I love what you say – that with lots of love, you always have enough room. Such sage advice.

      Thanks again!

I love how functional your space is! Our master bath appears to be about the same size, so I’m feeling inspired to get it more organized. Where is your medicine cabinet from? I love the silver frame.

Adorable! I think I said this before, but Milo’s “room” was a walk in closet in our old house. (it had a window). He loved it 🙂

I love the new shower curtain! (Also, I’m glad you mentioned the wind was blowing it because I’m not even going to use your toilet and yet I was concerned it was a wee bit cramped.)

I really dig the towel bar under the sink. In our condo we had sinks similar to that with large large basin and not much counter space. I think a towel bar underneath might have helped things work a bit better.

The bathroom looks like it gets great light!! I love Henry’s room. People put kids in closets (not in the harmful way like in the we have no space so let me trick up a closet way) and it turns out amazing. Can’t wait to see it with his stuff!

It’s looking really good so far! I must admit I’m getting really curious to see how the space feels with furniture in it. It’s hard to judge the scale of Henry’s room completely empty!

His room will definitely be the tightest in the entire barn.
