DIY sink storage from hardware store items

November 2, 2012 by Kim Woodward

Sometimes, you just have to solve problems in your home. Problems that may be small, but still bug you. Like storage around the sink. In our home, there’s simply a lack of storage around the sink. There’s the different soaps and brushes and IT WAS DRIVING ME TO DRINK! (Not a far drive.) I felt […]

Open kitchen shelving with Fiestaware and Pyrex

January 31, 2012 by Kim Woodward

Well, I was able to get a few pretties up on our new shelves in the kitchen. It’s quite cheerful, right? I especially love that I can display my Pyrex dishes. Plus, the Fiestaware blends into the kitchen quite nicely. Luckily, these shelves seem to be quite sturdy. I’ve already loaded them up more than […]

An open shelf experiment

January 25, 2012 by Kim Woodward

I love open shelves in kitchen. They are everywhere nowadays, and they always look so pretty. When we renovated our kitchen last summer, I chose to leave the wall between the two windows empty for open shelves. While I know my messy-cabinet self well enough to know I couldn’t maintain all open shelves, I thought […]

Finally, a chalkboard!

October 21, 2011 by Kim Woodward

I’ve finally done it. I FINALLY HAVE A CHALKBOARD. And it feels good. The story starts ages ago. I bought a ginormo frame from Habitat for Humanity in February of 2010 for $3. It was gold-colored and a little rough. But, it was so darn big that I had to buy it. You should have […]

The so-far house: Kitchen

October 18, 2011 by Kim Woodward

I may have intentionally held off on posting photos of the so-far kitchen. Because there are several things I want to finish. Like… Making and installing open shelves in between the windows. (Ryan is “searching” for his tile drill bit. And I’m lazy.) Putting up my chalkboard. (Which is still sitting in the basement. And […]

Getting spicy

June 15, 2011 by Kim Woodward

File this under simple project that I should have done (way) sooner. You may recall our handy little spice rack. Strangely enough, blog friends love this spice rack. Every time I post photos of the kitchen, I get questions about the origin of the spice rack and clock. (Spice rack: Bed, Bath and Beyond. Clock: Hand-me-down […]
