Queso in four steps (perfect for the big game – or any day)

January 27, 2015 by Kim Woodward

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of RO*TEL & VELVEETA . All opinions are 100% mine.

If there’s a party, you can count on me to bring the queso. Which is what happened this week when I was preparing a quick appetizer for craft night.

The best part about bringing Queso is that you can customize it and change it up every time. Add meat or veggies and it’s a whole new dip.

Here’s what you need. Ro*Tel + Velveeta. (And if you are me, this is already always in your pantry in case of queso-mergency.) Velveeta and Ro*Tel Queso Steps1

Step 1: Melt a package of Velveeta with a can of Ro*Tel on the stovetop. Spoon over tortilla chips. Honestly, this is good on its own. You can stop here. But don’t. Trust me. Velveeta and Ro*Tel Queso Steps4

Step 2: Brown a pound of ground sausage and spoon over the queso. I love adding spicy sausage, but you can also use mild or even ground beef.Velveeta and Ro*Tel Queso Steps2

Step 3: Slice fresh green onions on top. I stop here, but you can think bigger, people. Sour cream, tomatoes,  lettuce, olives … Velveeta and Ro*Tel Queso Steps3

Don’t those look great? They’d make a great appetizer for the big game, dish to share at craft night or even a yummy snack.

Ryan ate these for dinner the night I took them to craft night. I guess he’s sort of my quality control person.

Oh, but what’s the Step 4? Devour. And repeat.

Check out Velveeta Facebook and Ro*Tel Facebook to connect with all the other queso lovers out there.

I just want you to know that neither Velveeta nor Rotel are usually found in my pantry, but both made their way into my cart today. We’re having your dip for supper with chili and chips. Perfect for this snow day! Thanks!
