Today is the day – my turn to share as part of the pumpkin parade!
As a reminder, you can check out new pumpkin projects each day this week. And on Friday, make sure to come back and link up your favorite pumpkin posts!
For my project, I decided to put together a fun pumpkin display for my fall porch. I love stacking heirloom pumpkins like a topiary to add height and interest. I thought it would be cool to add a little phrase that is sweet to me – “Home Sweet Home.” I wanted to steer away from anything too “Halloweeny” so I could keep it up for the duration of fall.
To do this, I simply hand-drew my letters on each pumpkin with pencil. Since I have a serious stash of paint, I just made my own mid-grey color from Behr Jet Black and Behr Ultra Pure White. Then, I used a small brush to fill in the words.
20 minutes was all it took to get my “Home Sweet Home” pumpkins.
To stack them, I use a hammer to break off their stems. Then, I nestle them on top of one another for the topiary look. Voila. A sweet reminder of all I have to be thankful for this fall. Home Sweet Home, indeed.
I hope you’ll take a moment to check out the other parade participants today – Ainhoa at A little bite of everything and Kelly at A Swell Place to Dwell.
What do you think of my painted pumpkins?
Disclosure: We are working with Behr to complete projects as a DIY expert. We will be provided with paint and stain to complete the projects. (Although in this case, we had the paint on hand from previous projects.) All opinions, as always, are our own.

I love them! I especially love the unique colors and textures. The middle one is my favorite. You’re making me want to go find some pumpkins for our front porch!
I’m impressed that you did the lettering yourself! I was contemplating freehanding some big words and/or numbers on my pumpkins, but I chickened out. They look great!
so cute! i love it on the pale pumpkin backdrop, too!
Looks lovely. Great idea to stack them.
