New additions to Lucille’s modern floral nursery

April 17, 2018 by Kim Woodward

All the cliches about parenthood are so true. They grow up so fast. It really does feel like I blinked and Lucy turned 6 months old.

As she grows, she also gets more and more fun. I truly think every stage is my favorite when it’s happening. Right now, she loves to grab and play with her toys, sit up, roll around, and stand up (with our help, of course). She’s also a TALKER, always jibber jabbering.

Henry and I spend a lot of time on Lucy’s bedroom floor with her – reading books and playing with toys. And because girlfriend spits up like it’s her job, that meant plenty of carpeting clean-ups.

That’s why we’re all loving her new Lorena Canals Rug – in puffy love. It’s plush and girly and fits perfectly in her modern floral nursery. And I love the built in heart cushion for storytime.(Girlfriend’s perfecting her Blue Steel look.)

Lorena Canals rugs use all natural dyes and contain no VOCs like most carpeting and rugs. Plus they are handmade and eco-friendly.

Major bonus: It’s machine-washable and fits into a standard washer and dryer! That means totally simple clean up every time. I feel like having a machine washable rug is a game-changer with kids. Like, why can’t every rug in the house be machine washable?

It’s a super sweet and sophisticated addition to her nursery, and adds a little personality to the carpeted floors. (There’s no reason you can’t add a rug to carpeting.)

I’ve also been making a few other changes to her walls.

I finally added a simple pink growth chart on the wall and a few new pieces – like the “welcome baby” banner and the sign above the dreamcatcher. (Check out my tutorial for a growth chart here.) I still need to add the final numbers, but I’ll get to that before she reaches 6 feet tall.

Nothing major, but it feels like it rounds out the wall a little better.

On the other side, we added some more flowers and her name above the crib. Because more is more.

They are all attached with Velcro command strips – and can be easily removed if and when Lucy decides to start grabbing them off the wall. (They are also incredibly light, which should keep everyone safe.)

We are all loving the small changes – and enjoying all the time spent together in the room. I’m soaking it up – because I’ll blink again and she’ll be grown up.

I received Lucy’s new nursery rug courtesy of Lorena Canals.
