My colorful spring kitchen tour

March 13, 2018 by Kim Woodward

I love a colorful home all year. But there’s something about spring that makes me want to amp it up.

Maybe it’s living in the Midwest. We spend winter covered in white and early spring surrounded by brown. I’m just jonesing for a little burst of color. Yellow daffodils. Pink tulips. A bluebird. SOMETHING already. For goodness sakes.

First up – I’m excited to share our kitchen and dining areas all decked out for spring and Easter. I love decorating for holidays – and I’m not above a kitschy bunny or two (or ten).

I saved a special gift card I received in December especially for spring. It was a fun way to grab a few new cute items from a local store I love. Like this adorable bunny ear mug. Merry Christmas-Spring to me.

These open shelves give me such a great space to add tons of color. The color brings me a great deal of joy.

But I think the best part of spring is the reintroduction of FLOWERS. Like, real ones. That GROW. The winter almost makes me forget that can happen. I had to grab these tulips at the grocery store over the weekend. They were started from bulbs and growing in a glass vase with no soil. Aren’t they precious?

And then these daffodils jumped in my cart, too. They are feisty little things with minds of their own.

By they time they are finished blooming, maybe I’ll have a few popping up outside. Fingers crossed. Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
And we can’t forget these giant paper flowers. (Get the full tutorial here.) I love the pop of color on the vent hood.Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
The mug rack got a dose of Easter with some eggs and a little nest I picked up years ago.Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
The little eggs in the bowl were painted by Henry when he was two or three. I need to grab a few more this year for him to paint.Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
Speaking of eggs, the eggs surrounding the tulips are hand-dyed from the Amana Colonies. They were a gift from my mother-in-law and they last year-after-year.Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
Our dining room table also got a little sprinkle of color. The quilted table topper was made by me almost 8 years ago. It’s perfect for spring. And then I added a watering can full of faux peonies and a concrete bunny. And a jar of markers. Not for aesthetics. For coloring. Because we do that about a dozen times a day.

I also filled up the galvanized star on the wall with the faux peonies. (These flowers look really realistic and are such a good value.)Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
I picked up the light pink and green colors. And I may get a few more bunches because they are so pretty. Colorful spring kitchen tour | NewlyWoodwards
I feel like the house is taking a deep breath after a long, cold winter. And, I guess I am, too.

I love your kitchen! Those open shelves with the painted backs are amazing and you have so many beautiful spring decorations. I’m especially fond of those flowers and after seeing your green ones, I wish I would’ve bought those in addition to pink! Beautiful kitchen tour!
