I’m quite proud of myself for making bread for the first time.
Granted, it was incredibly easy.
Granted, it took less than 5 minutes to prepare.
But… it’s BREAD! And I made it….. I’m feeling so very “Little House on the Prairie” – like only wilderness people make bread, right?
So, here is my new discovery that will become a staple at our house because we always have the ingredients… and did I mention it’s so simple?
Beer Bread Recipe from Recipezaar
(Note: Since I didn’t have a loaf pan… because I don’t make bread…. I used a glass pyrex container. It worked pretty swell and turned out thicker.)
Ingredients
3 cups flour (sifted)
3 teaspoons baking powder (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Self-Rising Flour)
1/4 cup sugar
1 (12 ounce) can beer (We used Coors Light)
1/2 cup melted butter
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Mix dry ingredients and beer.
3. Pour into a greased loaf pan.
4. Pour melted butter over mixture.
5. Bake 1 hour, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes.
I swear… that’s it! Try it, it’s delicious!
Wow–beer and bread?? What more could a girl ask for! Sounds delicious!
I’m glad that Tony doesn’t read this blog because he might think that I should start cooking or baking or something…oh wait, he already thinks that 🙂 Jill had her baby this morning at 2am. Karis Marie. I’m not sure if you’re on their e-mail list, so if you want to see a picture you can check out my blog.
I’m definitely going to have to try this!! Maybe once we move…
