Black and red holiday mantel inspiration

November 28, 2017 by Kim Woodward

It’s here! It’s here!

The holiday season is upon us. And if you know me at all, you know I’m already knee-deep in red glitter. If you don’t know me, I love Christmas. I’ve got holiday scents burning. I’ve got the Christmas station on repeat. And I’m on my fifth peppermint mocha in the past 2 days.

My friends – I train all year for this. Christmas is basically my SUPER BOWL. And I’m going for a touch down. Or something. Go, sports!

Today, I’m thrilled to share our first completed space for the holidays – the living room mantel. I became a little more obsessed with black and red for the holidays and it really shows here. (See our holiday home tour from last year.)

I am joining with 17 other bloggers to share our holiday mantel inspiration today. (Check out all the beautiful mantels and vignettes at the end of the post. You will want to block out some time to see them all. Get those pinnin’ fingers ready.)

Holiday mantel inspiration in black and red

I love creating spaces in our home that feel different every Christmas. And the mantel has a much more modern feel this year – with a mix of black and white buffalo check, berries and large Monrovian stars. Black and red holiday mantel inspiration NewlyWoodwards

It’s still too hot to burn a fire in the fireplace, so I filled up the area with some of my favorite Christmas decor. I created a black backdrop for a beautiful wreath as a centerpiece.

The gingham bunting works perfectly with the berries. I have had the berries for 10 years and they get a new life every Christmas.

And don’t forget the hearth. Perfect spot for more pillows and stars. Black and red holiday mantel inspiration NewlyWoodwards

And another letter board for one of my favorite holiday sentiments. There really is no place like home for the holidays. Am I right?

The tree moved next to the fireplace this year – which adds a little sparkle and pulls the theme together more.

Oh, hey! There’s another tree on the staircase, too. You can never have too many trees, the experts say. (I just made that up.) I’ll be back another day to share more about the trees. (Want to be notified when that happens? Just sign up here.)

Having the mantel decorated is making me feel more in the Christmas spirit. Don’t come too close or I’ll just start throwing glitter at you like holy water. Black and red holiday mantel inspiration NewlyWoodwards

Because you can never have too much sparkle.

Thanks so much! I love the banner, too. I am thinking about going and getting more. I could have made them (chuckle) but it wasn’t worth it when they were already made just like I wanted them.

    Hi Kim!
Beautiful mantel!!! Quick question for you: where did you find that little white church ? Too cute!

Thanks so much! It’s actually silver (the one on the mantel, right?) It was from Target last year. I think there are similar ones there this year, too.
