A family Christmas tree with a handmade touch

December 7, 2017 by Kim Woodward

This post was sponsored by Amazon Handmade as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

There’s truly no place I’d rather be than home.

And that also includes the store. Which is why I’ve done almost all our holiday shopping this year from the comfort of my computer. In my pajamas.

We are living in the future.

And the beauty of online shopping for the holidays is that you can find almost anything. With just a few clicks. That includes unique, handmade items. Which is where Amazon Handmade comes in.

I am loving the opportunity to find curated, handmade gifts that support small businesses. (Psssst: Plus Amazon Handmade means great customer service, convenience and FREE two-day Prime shipping. Huzzah!)

I found some incredible and unique gifts this year on Amazon Handmade – and picked up a few goodies for my family, too. That includes ornaments for one of my very favorite holiday traditions …

THE FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE

I’m a huge fan of beautiful Christmas tree and love designing them in our home. But this hodge podge tree has branches packed with special moments and memories. So it’s officially my favorite. In my eyes, it’s the most beautiful, too.

We created this cozy little family nook in the new basement family room – including a new prelit tree we picked up for the space. The family Christmas tree even has fun colored lights, which Ryan and Henry love.

This tree fills up quickly. Each year, we pick up new ornaments for our family Christmas tree. There are no real rules about how many to buy or what they should look like. No rhyme or reason. Just ornaments that strike our fancy.

There are ornaments from our travels. There are ornaments to remember special moments. And I pick up a few ornaments each year for Henry (and now Lucy). Ryan and I have even exchanged ornaments in Christmases past.

It’s a special tradition I love.

This year, I found a few new ornaments for our collection on Amazon Handmade and gave them to Henry for the start of advent. His new laser engraved brachiosaurus ornament celebrates his love of all things dino.

Pro tip: Don’t forget to put a date and name on the back of the dino. I had Henry sign his name himself, to remember his adorable kindergarten handwriting.Decorating a family tree with sentimental ornaments | NewlyWoodwards

And this too-cute metal Illinois state ornament is perfect for any homebody. (And wouldn’t this be a perfect hostess gift with a bottle of wine?)

But, perhaps my favorite is this customized Promoted to Big Brother ornament. Henry was stoked that it has both his name AND Lucille’s.

The ability to customize so many of the items on Amazon Handmade is my favorite part of it. Nearly half of the products offered are customizable.

And, to top off the tree area, we added a few more customizable items – which will work in the space all year. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.Family Christmas tree with sentimental ornaments and colored lights

First is the LOVE YOU MORE sign, which would be an incredible gift for family members. This happens to be a phrase we use often – and has even become a bit of a game for my son. So the chance to have a huge barnwood framed print on cotton is awesome.

And the fact that it is handmade in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is icing on the cake. LOVE YOU MORE sign | Amazon Handmade

And  this initial throw blanket is just lovely in person – it’s like a large and cozy version of a turkish hand towel. It’d be a wonderful Christmas gift – and also an amazing gift to celebrate an anniversary or wedding. (Ryan and I will reach 10 years married on December 29, and I loved that we could include the year we got hitched on the blanket as well.)

The best part of the holidays is spending it with the ones you love, in a home you love.

And if I get to look at these faces all day, why would I ever need to leave?Matching Hanna Anderson pajamas for Christmas

The answer – I wouldn’t. And I’m grateful that Amazon Handmade helps me get my shopping done – without having to step foot outside my house.
