Girls, girls, girls (and Edward)

July 12, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I spent the weekend in Kansas City with my college roommates, Ali and Lynne. Ali lives in the KC-area and Lynne is in St. Louis, so we don’t see each other often.

Normally, I drive the 6 hours on my own. This time, I brought a friend.

In case you didn’t already think I’m psychotic, I buckled Edward Cullen in the front seat for the drive to Kansas. But, it was all worth it to see the looks on Ali and Lynne’s faces when I got there. And, my husband’s look of disbelief when I assured him that I most certainly would be driving the entire way with Edward Cullen riding shotgun.

We all got together to see the newest Twilight movie, “Eclipse.” It came out more than a week ago, but we all waited to see it together. And, I took the Twilight party on the road.  (See last year’s shin-dig here.) That included Edward and some other decor. Ali invited more friends over to her home and we had a great time. (And, I kinda enjoyed helping with a party in someone else’s home.)

I resurrected the Twilight poms. (FYI: You can totally re-fluff these if you squish them into a garbage bag.)
We made “blood” shots in test tubes, which people get a kick out of.
Ali got us tickets for a theatre with recliners. Seriously. I’d never heard of such a thing. And, there were waitstaff who brought food and drinks right to us. It was da bomb. We got a kick out of the recliners.

Of course we had to shop, too.

We also did some cooking.

And, did I mention the Ali just moved into her house? So, this is the first time I got to see it. It is so cute! I love the kitchen.

I also adore the living room. I spent quite a bit of time lounging right in the corner of that great sofa over the weekend.

And, check out her backyard. It looks like a park, doesn’t it?

The movie was good, but I mostly enjoyed just revisiting my senior year in college. With two great girlfriends. We talked. We laughed. We’re already planning the next get-together.

I’m really looking forward to it.

When was the last time you got together with old friends?

I am so sad that I was gone the weekend you were in town:(. But it looks like you guys had an amazing time and I laughed out loud when I saw Edward in your front seat!

Looks like so much fun. And that’s awesome you drove with Edward. Was his skin shining like diamonds throughout the drive?

I love your tiny Twilight obsession! I’ll admit, I once owned a lifesized Britney Spears poster. One year we had a Halloween party and everyone was a different version of Britney. I was Pepsi Britney :).

It has been way too long since I’ve gotten together with my friends from school. We are, however, talking about having a “Girl’s Getaway” for our 15th reunion next year.

I hope he didn’t try to sneak over and bite you! 😉 Love it!!

And I don’t see my girlfriends from high school or college often enough. Our last get together was back in May for a SF Giants game… husbands and, those who have them, kids in tow. It was great!!

How much fun is that?! 🙂 Did you love Eclipse?? I liked it a lot. We have one of those new theaters with the recliners/bar, etc. Got to see SATC2 there…such a fun girls’ night.

    Her back yard is amazing!!

Glad you had a great trip! Looks like it was busy but super fun. And I’m in envy of that backyard. My college roommates are all within 2 hours but life is busy and we don’t see each other enough!

Wow, I love her backyard!! My last get together with college friends? That crazy trip we took with 70 high schoolers. 4 of our college friends (2 married couples) were also along as staff/chaperones, so it was like a band geek reunion tour. And really fun. Even with 70 high schoolers along. : )

This looks so fun. I am loving that you drove 6 hours with Edward in the car. I can only imagine the looks you got! : )

Was this the weekend you were in the Stl? I am so sorry I forgot to throw out some of my favorite stores if it was! : (

#1: all I can picture is you driving down the highway with Edward in your car! What strange looks you must have gotten! Especially if you had to go through a toll booth or stop for gas or anything! lol Classic!

#2: I live just outside of KC, we should have done a bloggie meet! Plus I haven’t seen Eclipse yet, how sad is that? 🙁

#3: Your friends house is awesome!

He’s a fine looking driving companion. I hope he brought along road-trip snacks.

And um, on your next get-together, let’s invite me. I can pretend I went to school with you guys. Not just because your whole trip looks like fun but I need that movie theater. And possibly that backyard.

I’m pretty lucky I guess since all my HS and college friends are still pretty much local so we can get together whenever, although not as much as I’d like these days…

Thanks again for the blog help, you saved my sanity at 11 pm last night.

Awesome trip Kim! And Edward looks like he was so well behaved on the car ride. 😉 Sadly, it’s been several years since I’ve gotten together with my old friends….life and children and distance seem to always get in the way.
