Today I’m sharing another fun and speedy sewing project that makes a really great gift for nearly any woman on your list. The straight iron case. Eat your heart out, ladies.
I made a few of these as gifts a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. The most recent version was for Shannon. I love the mix of pink canvas with the black and white fabric. This is also a great stashbuster project. Iam usually able to use fabrics I already have on-hand.
While this is nice for traveling, it’s also just plain handy for storage around the house. I keep my straight iron in my case all the time. It’s just easier and the interfacing keeps it cool to the touch.
Here’s the first version I made back in 2010 (which strangely was also pink, white and black). I loosely follow the tutorial at Crap I’ve Made. (And by loosely, I mean that I end up doing about the same thing but follow instructions very poorly so I mostly just wing it.)
Cute, I like the colorsof the fabrics you chose too.
I’m dying at the instructions comment. I have one that came with my flatiron but it’s not very pretty. I like these better. Make me one. In your free time.
Will you be selling these on your Etsy site by chance?? I think I need one. 🙂
Such a great idea; especially for traveling! Add it to the list of must DIY!
Fabulous! I haven’t used my flat iron in years, but I would sure feel better about it sitting in the closet if it was in a cute case like this!
Love this! I wonder if I have time to make one before I leave in two weeks…
