A gift for you – straight iron case

January 5, 2011 by Kim Woodward

This is such a fun and simple project, I know you are going to wanna whip one up for yourself and all your friends…

It’s a travel case for your straight iron.

It’s adorable.

It’s quick.

And, it’s so practical.

Go check out the steps to make your own at Crap I’ve Made. I skipped the step of rounding corners. It’s honestly a 30 minute project. And, if you want a refresher on bias tape (like I did), this is a great outline on Sew Neau. I made several bias mistakes on this one (note the area where the tape was too short on the pocket). But, I still love it. I gave away several as gifts and I’m making one for me, too.

What do you think?

Um, this looks like a great opportunity/excuse for me to figure out how to use my neglected sewing machine – I like it!

I love the fabric you picked and the high contrats tape. In the past year or so I’ve used it more, but never made my own. I’ll have to add that to my to-do list.

LOVE this!!! Someone’s turning into a sewing professional! 🙂 The pink bias tape makes a great addition. So useful too! You just gave me a great idea for next year’s Xmas gifts (if I ever get that organized!). Nice work!

Love the pattern and colors, Kim! I don’t use a straight iron b/c my hair refuses to stay completely straight, but this would be a great gift for my sis. 🙂

I absolutely love this! I love the pattern and colors you picked, and it looks nicer than any that I’ve seen in stores. Great job! I am putting this on my list of things to make (after I learn to sew!).

Nice job Kim! I won’t embarrass myself by asking what a straight iron is. 😉 he he he

Cute!!! Great job. I need to make myself one of these, maybe making one of these is what I can do to practice my sewing skills.
