I believe I’m the last person to make a yarn-wrapped wreath. And I know why I waited so long. Because this craft is seriously time-consuming. And I typically like quick and simple craft projects.
This craft all started with a dream. A dream that Michelle (Decor and the Dog) and I had to hang out with girls, craft and eat.
So, in January, Craft Night was born. And let me tell you, it was good. Real good. (Here’s Sarah, Nici and Michelle)
I hosted the first one in January at Casa de Woodward. We’re going to rotate each month to a new host, making it fun for all. To make sure that hosting is not too stressful, everyone brings an appetizer or dessert and their own supplies. The host chooses the craft each month. (We set up a Facebook group to chat between nights.)
As the host, I chose yarn-wrapped wreaths for January.
The plan was to work on other crafts after the craft of the month. Unfortunately, yarn-wrapped wreaths take approximately four hundred hours. Or more, if you are me. Pretty tedious. But, I think they turned out well and we definitely had fun.
We all went different directions with our wreaths. And we had plenty of time to gab and eat and laugh and pet dogs and hold babies.
And Ryan stopped by to take over yarn-wrapping for me when I wasn’t really doing it correctly. (Michelle is totally Instagramming that.)
And my wreath? I went with Fisherman’s wool yarn I’ve had for ages. I wanted it to be neutral so I could swap it out for other holidays throughout the year. I didn’t want to pigeonhole this wreath to only Valentine’s Day.
After (too much) wrapping, I tried my heart-garland first (made from felted wool sweaters a few years ago).

So, this is one of my Valentine’s craft projects. But I love that it’s versatile for all year.

Ooh, I love that yarn! I finally made a yarn wrapped wreath this weekend. It wasn’t too bad, but then again I used chunky wreath. Is that cheating?

Love how it turned out. I haven’t done a yarn wrapped wreath, but I do know that they take a long time. And how fun to all get together and have a craft night. We do that here once in a while. I will have to organize one soon.
Your wreath looks great! I like the “Be Mine” banner a lot. Perhaps it took so long because you didn’t use a styrofoam wreath? Just a thought. I recently made one and it took an hour to wrap the yarn around it. All and all you did it in the company of friends 🙂 Can’t beat that!

Love it! I am also among the few who haven’t yet tried a yarn wreath. But yours turned out adorable. I love the nice neutral yarn, and the banner you put on it looks perfect. Great job!
Don’t worry, you aren’t the last person to make a yarn wreath…I still haven’t taken on that challenge haha. I went with strips of felt for my wreath because I was too lazy to wrap yarn around a form a million times. Kudos to you for getting it done, it looks beautiful!! 🙂
