I firmly believe that everyone should start a craft night. We started one this year and it is so stinkin’ fun I can hardly stand it.
But here’s something you should know. You will like it so much that you will wish there was a craft night every week.
The last craft night was at the Woodward Casa again. It was the week after Henry’s party, which just makes me insanse. But actually, craft night is also very low-pressure. We all bring a dish to share and our own supplies. It’s the best kind of hosting.
I chose painted canvases for the craft this time, and we used the tutorial at The Pleated Poppy.
After a bit of measuring with rulers and circles, we were ready to paint. This project was quick and fun. I wished I had a bigger canvas because I enjoyed it so much. But, I love the result. It is perfect in the china hutch.

So fun! I love painting, even if I stink at it. I can’t wait to have a real house so I can have girlfriends over for craft nights. 🙂
This must have been so much fun! The canvases totally remind me of an old-fashioned quilt, especially the largest one. I am betting you could probably follow the same idea using other quilt patterns, but maybe not.
In one version of my life, I was going to be an art teacher, so yes, I love painting canvas. I just finished a painting for my hall bathroom, in fact, and I plan to do a post about it soon!
Love your craft nights. They sound like such fun. The canvases look wonderful!
Super jealous of your craft nights. Love the canvases!
i love that you guys do this. yours turned out perfect for that china cabinet!
I need to start a craft night, even if I’m just by myself! It’ll give me an excuse to make cookies and not have to share them with anyone else.
Question for you, though… how tall is your beadboard/wainscoting? I have a wall that I’d like to do the same thing to, but I have no idea how tall it should be. Did you just use the big panels of it, or those precut ones? I need some insight 😉
These came out so well!! I think my friends would totally laugh in my face if I suggested a craft night, which is why I am so thankful for my blog friends…they make me feel normal!
I totally need a craft night. Can I just crash yours? Love that art piece!!
I’m so glad you posted about this! I actually have an email draft saved that I started yesterday to ask you for details about this project, because I want to make one myself after seeing your pics on instagram. I love how they came out–so colorful and fun! I want to come to your ccraft night 🙁
This looks so fun! We have a canvas and cocktails here and I did it with a group of friends from my sorority in May, but a DIY canvas and cocktails sounds even better (and cheaper!) Love your canvas – and displaying it in the hutch is perfect.
Craft night makes me wish I lived in the Quad Cities. You guys always look like you have tons of fun…and get to make cool stuff. And eat. What could be better?
One of these days I’m flying out there just for craft night! These look so cool! Now I think I might make one…
I would love to do a craft night…I just don’t know who would come! =( Anyone in the northwest Chicago suburbs wanna do a craft night? lol
Awesome!!! I would so crash your craft night if I lived close enough — looks like you have so much fun and you’re so productive!! Love the paintings!! 🙂
I’m so jealous of y’alls craft nights! Wish I lived closer! I’ve been wanting to paint a canvas, but I suffer from severe shake hand. I fear it would turn out so wonky. Yours looks great. I love the colors!
So fun! Love how they all turned out…and your petite one is adorable!
So fun! I think craft night is a great idea. My friend and I used to do Sunday afternoon crafts while our husbands watched football. Sadly we moved far away from them & I haven’t found new crafting buddies yet!
You guys are super cute doing your craft nights 🙂 xo Kristin
i want to come to your art nights! how far is iowa from maryland? i can drive it, right?
