Black and white custom canvases for the bathroom

June 10, 2013 by Kim Woodward

I’m not much of a “decorator.” Okay. I know you are rolling your eyes.

But let me explain.

I like completing big renovation projects – the befores and afters, if you will. I like imagining how a terrible space could someday look lovely. But, the small stuff? The vignettes, as other bloggers like to call them? The walls of perfectly styled photos? Not my thing. It’s too tedious. So, I’m not really very good at styling shelves, or measuring distances for photo frames, or even finishing spaces.

But on the other hand, I sometimes love the little updates the best. That’s how I feel about our newest artwork. My buddy Lyndsay at That 70s House showed off some fabulous canvases she hung in her den. (The photos she used were purchased from Decor and the Dog.)

And it was then I realized that I had the perfect spot for canvases in the bathroom. When I took these photos of Henry in the tub, I fell in love with them and wanted to look at them everyday.

So I picked up two 11×17 canvases from CVS and moved my San Francisco photographs to the other side of the room.

Best canvases ever.

Still no vignette. But, it’s feeling a little more “decorated,” no?

What do you think of this little update?

Canvases from CVS? How do you like the quality? Would you get canvases there again?

    • Kim@NewlyWoodwards says

      June 10, 2013 at 8:26 AM

The quality is SUPER good. Like, surprisingly good. If I did it again, I’d lighten my images a bit because they print a little dark (Lyndsay told me that, too, but I didn’t listen). The image wraps around the canvas and the back is covered with a heavy backing.

They are also really affordable, so make sure to go with a coupon code.

Oh my goodness Kim I love them. I’m pretty sure this was my idea? I swear I left a comment saying ‘these need to be on canvas”… If not I should have. Now if you’d just come over and take photos of my water buffalo so I can copy you I’d be a winner too. XO.

[…] Our bathroom needs to be redone. Someday (hopefully soon), we’ll get rid of the dated 1950s green tile and the old carpet. Ugh. When we do, I like the idea of hanging canvases of Nathan in the bath just like the Newly Woodwards created in black and white here. […]
