Best-Ever Pork Chop Marinade

November 20, 2008 by Kim Woodward

I don’t know that I can fairly call this a new “recipe” – but it was new to us and quite delicious.

We don’t make pork chops very often. We stick to chicken and beef almost exclusively. I have a deeply-rooted disgust for bacon and ham, so perhaps pork chops also get the shaft because of this.

I don’t know.

But, when I received this easy-peasy marinade from a recipe exchange, I figured I should try it. Mainly – I was intrigued that it mixed soy sauce (my favorite thing) with ketchup (Ryan’s Cryptonite).

I had a gift certificate for a local meat market, so I was even able to get some big, thick pork chops. And, here we go…

Best-Ever Pork Chop Marinade by Teri Crane
Soak the chops in a big zip-lock bag for 8 hours or overnight in a marinade of:
– 1/3 soy sauce
– 1/3 ketchup
– 1/3 sherry (Any drinkable cheap sherry will do. Don’t use cooking sherry.)

Pull chops right from the bag and plop onto the grill. Brush on more marinade now and then(or pour from the bag if you’re lazy like me).

These pork chops are moist and fabulous. If you are still grilling (like we do all year long), it is a great way to bring back a little summer into your life. These will definitely be repeated at the Woodwards.

Oooh, sounds delish. Assuming I have any sherry left over for marinating, I will have to try this. I can’t promise anything once a bottle of liquor’s been opened in my house =)

I will def have to give this a try. My hub and I tend to stay away from pork chops cause they are so darn dry!

Oh and about the ketchup.. it’s actually my middle name (or would be if I could afford to change it legally). I loves me some ketchup.

    Thanks for the funny reads.

Those sound good and I don’t like pork chops at all. We’re going to try them.
