Bathroom textile update

October 11, 2011 by Kim Woodward

There have been times in the past few years when I wonder what I’ll blog about. But this is not that time in my life. There is so much I want to share about the new house, but I just can’t keep up (and keep up with other things in the house, too).
So, these pictures are a few weeks old. We desperately needed curtains in the bathroom. For light blocking and privacy. So, this was one of the first projects I needed to complete when we moved in. I love how they turned out.

I used a simple cotton black and white fabric (Metro Living Tile Black) and added a white liner (Drapery Liner). I’ve never lined curtains before, but I wanted to do it for these so it would block as much light as possible and also create a more uniform look from the outside. It was relatively simple and I think it was worth the extra time.

We mounted a black rod on the woodwork because i didn’t want to cover the woodwork. I used ring clips, which are brilliant. How have I never used these?

To tie the curtains into the room a little more, I also added a really simple strip to the shower curtain, which wasn’t long enough anyhow since we hung it higher.

I was inspired by this bathroom on Pinterest. (Yes. Sometimes I do actually do things I find on Pinterest. But mostly, I just waste time.)

I also added my San Francisco pictures after I took most of the bathroom photos. Love looking at trolley cars every morning.

And that my little textile update to the bathroom.

Do you like the black and white or are you jonesing for some color? What do you think?

Raven said she just kept a little bit of dieting 2 weeks everything.
It can also loosen your resolve, leading you to mindlessly inhale chips, nuts,
fruits, seeds, and veggies. I start my day with some Special K and skim milk.
Dieting 2 Weeks is not going to weigh until the end of
    the day.

I really like the black and white. That being said knowing me I would add some “yellow” in there maybe via daisy’s / hand towel.

Oh man, I got real excited when I saw this. I am a complete sucker for B&W. (hello my wedding) I don’t think it needs any color, it’s interesting enough on it’s own. And yeah, the strip on the curtain is perfect. And I love the little shelf/pot contraption you’ve got going on, super cute.

I am typically a COLOR COLOR COLOR person, but I REALLY like this! I really think what does it for me is the B&W photos. LOVE!

Looks great! Love that you tied the curtains to the shower curtain to the tile. Smart girl. I love clip curtains. We don’t have many curtains in our house but 2/3 of them are on clips.

Oh my word! I love your bathroom! You did a great job on the window treatments!! I love the black and white, but I think a small pop of color somewhere would be fun. Maybe a little white vase of bright flowers or something??

I like the black and white – so classic and clean! If you start to crave color, add a bright candle, flower, etc. Nothing over the top… just something to add a little pop!

Ohhhh I love the black and white!! So classic- and it looks great with the black and white photos. I say keep it simple- and if you do want some color, do it small, but I don’t think this space is crying out for color. Gorgeous! 🙂

Love the curtains and stripe on the shower curtain. I’m redoing our guest bath and have been contemplating the shower curtain conundrum – I think a solid curtain with a great graphic stripe would be perfect. Thanks friend!

Super cute, Kim. I was thinking maybe a red orchid, but I like Michael’s idea of yellow, too. It looks fantastic just the way it is, though! Love it–you are so talented!

Love the graphic print of the curtains & embellished shower curtain to pieces!

I have a color phobia so you KNOW I’m digging the black & white. I tried to have an affair w/ color once & it made me feel dirty. True story.

I love it Kim! Your bathroom looks like it could be in a magazine!

If you were wanting to add color, maybe consider a plant or accessory in the same color as the soap in your dispenser? Red-ish or orangey?

wow. the curtains are beautiful! and adding it to the shower curtain was super smart.

i love the black and white, but i think you should add a pop color. throwing in a splash of yellow would just blow this bathroom out of the water! a little goes a long way.

just my thoughts… but i love everything you touch so i think it’s perfectly wonderful the way it is too. 🙂
