A Superhero Training Camp Party for Kids

October 8, 2015 by Kim Woodward

Do you ever get a crazy idea in your head that you just can’t shake?

That is me. Pretty much every day of my life.

But sometimes, the ideas come together in the most fun and wonderful way! That’s what happened when I had the idea to throw a Superhero Training Camp for Henry, his cousins and friends for Halloween.

Yes. Superheroes for Halloween.

Because if you have superhero fans, Halloween is just the equivalent of an excuse to dress up like a superhero for a specific occasion. (Because we dress up like superheroes everyday, obviously.)

I even wore a Captain America shirt and earrings. And Papa Bear showed up in a Avengers Hawkeye costume. Captain America was beside himself!

This party was intended to be in lieu of hosting a more traditional Halloween party. This could really even work in place of trick or treating if you are crazy like me. It was such a blast for younger kids and the parents!

My aunt graciously allowed us to host the party in her backyard, which is like kid heaven – tons of green grass, two trampolines, trees to climb, slides, sand tables and more. Seriously, the best place ever for a dozen kids.

And my friends at Birthday Express really came through with some amazing party supplies and favors – including …(drumroll please) … capes for all the kids! (These were legitimately a huge hit! All of our sources at the bottom of this post.)

Plus they helped me fill up this entire stand with treats and toys for the kids to earn after their training exercises. I mean, the kids could barely CONTAIN THEMSELVES. Do you blame them?

I couldn’t stop Avengering everything in sight.

The food table was the highlight.

I brought home a few yards of Marvel fabrics for the table. They’ll find a new life as a blanket for Henry soon.

And the Captain America fruit shield was a favorite for sure!Superhero Halloween Party Avengers for Kids04

Or maybe the Thor hammers. (Seriously – the best way to serve cheese and pretzels to toddlers.)Superhero Halloween Party Avengers for Kids06

And the activities were a blast – including silly string for Web Shooting.

And bomb detonation training (small balloon popping on the trampoline).

And the Hulk Smash.

I also had a free Avengers coloring sheet blown up at Staples. We affixed it to a large board and the kids all took turns coloring it.

In addition to a bucket of special superhero treats and capes, each kid took home their own superhero scooter. Which I finished the day before the party. I made one of these for Henry the week before from plans by That’s my Letter at Pretty Handy Girl.  I finished them with paint and vinyl superhero cutouts. (Thanks to my father in law for cutting all the boards for me to use from house building scraps.)

And have I mentioned how much I love my friends and family? They totally took this whole party idea in stride and made it so fun. My mom and aunt helped me with the whole party and food.

And my momma friends embraced the idea with open arms. Some of them even dressed up, too.

Life is seriously SUPERhero good. Happy Hero Halloween, friends!

Thanks so much to Birthday Express for providing me with so many awesome party supplies to make this Superhero Training Camp party possible.

If you are interested in your own superhero or Avengers party, here are a few of my top top picks:

For the food table:

  • Superhero candy bowls (Superman, Batman, Joker, Spiderman, Hulk, Ironman, and Captain America)
  • Avengers plastic cups, dinner plates and favor buckets

For the kiddos:

  • Captain America kids costume and shield
  • Batman/Superman reversible capes
  • Flash cape gift set
  • Spiderman light sticks
  • Assorted superhero PEZ dispensers
  • Avengers party value favors pack

For the photo booth:

  • 30-foot cityscape photo backdrop
  • Captain America life-size cutout
  • Avengers paper masks

Do you love this party idea as much as we did? Pin it for later!

So cool! super hero scooters are pretty much the best party favor of all time. Abe is very excited about all of this: “what they doing?! What that guy’s name is? Is that my cousin?!” He wants an invitation to the next party 😉

This is awesome! I love all the super cool themed stations…so creative! I’ve never seen those character candy bowls before. I’d be so tempted to leave them out all year round. The party looks like so much fun. I can’t imagine how you got anyone to leave!

Aren’t the bowls totally rad? I think they were probably one of my favorite parts. I think I may try to make them a part of Henry’s room in the new house – to hold toys or something.
