A quickie monogram pillow

February 26, 2014 by Kim Woodward

It’s time for a quickie.

(Snort. Giggle.)

I don’t know why that makes me laugh every time. Wait. Yes, I do. Because I’m an 8th grade boy trapped in a grown woman’s body. I ought to be ashamed of myself.

But I’m not. (See above.)

After I started working on the nightstands, I decided the bedroom needed a little more updating. First, a monogrammed pillow.

I’ve been pinning monogrammed pillows like it’s my job. For years. I wish it was my job because I’m really good at it.

You want proof? How about this one, from HGTV.

Or this one, from Cottage and Vine.

Or this one from Nine+Sixteen.

Seriously, folks. I could do this all day.

So, when I came across a light blue silky pillow I made in 2010 when we were still at our old house. It was actually made from an old king-size pillow case because I liked the color and material. But it was tossed aside at some point. I brought it back out for a refresh.

It looks a little wonky here. Maybe it is. But I promise you don’t notice it in real life. Let’s just focus on that monogram. Ahhhhh….

I simply cut the monogram on my Silhouette and used white heat transfer that I had in a drawer. It was a total quickie project. My favorite.

You can see that I also ended up with a little orange in my life. More on that later. For now, let’s bask in the monogram goodness.

What do you think of the monogram pillow?

Does anyone know where I can find a monogrammed pillow like the one from HGTV? Thank you very much.

Girl, if only you knew the truth. It’s all smoke and mirrors and Instagram filters up in here.

I love anything monogramed. I have a huge obsession with most of the towels and boxes from West Elm.

I haven’t read your blog in awhile and just read your guest post about leaving your job. Kudos to you for following your heart! Sounds like you’re taking advantage of other opportunities as well, such as teaching. I wish you all the best!

Ok. All of your posts lately have me thinking that I really need to get a Silhouette. My handwriting sucks, so I can’t really do cute projects like this.

Also, I totally giggled at the word quickie too. Hehe

I’ve used the heck out of my Silhouette. It was worth the money.

ooh, no sewing! sounds like the perfect project :). And I pretty much only read here for the 8th grade boy humor, so you’d better keep it coming 😉

Well now I’m torn. Do I want a ticket to Haven or a Silhouette for my birthday?? Decisions, decisions!

Super cute! I bought some heat transfer for my Silhouette, but haven’t used it yet. I also giggled/snorted at this, so you aren’t alone!

ew 8th grade boys. So much to love, but so much that is just WEIRD. I’ve spent 5 years trying to teach them English and therefore things like the stupid plot diagram of which the word “climax” is an integral part. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?

Monogrammed pillows, on the other hand, are a very good idea. 🙂

Love it and that it is such a simple project. The scale of the font is perfect for the pillow.
