At the Woodward house, things change often. Even Christmas decorations change within the month we decorate.
And sometimes, it’s because we break things. It happened with a FULL TREE one year. (Franco the pug was to blame.)
So, within a few days of creating the DIY wrapping paper art, I knocked the whole thing off the wall, causing the frame to break into several pieces. I could have put it back together, but I decided to scratch it and start again.
Because I still needed a good solution to display holiday cards. Here’s what I came up with:

We used two pieces of old barn wood that we cut to be 48 inches long. Then I painted them red and added a clothespin every 3 inches to the top and bottom of each.
I wanted to include a quote about the true spirit of the holidays – including the importance of those friends and family members who send cards each year. When I read this quote from The Grinch, I knew it was perfect. I pulled the quote from the Silhouette Design Store and just changed it up a bit to fit horizontally on the 4ft boards.

So that’s our little update to the holiday home tour I posted earlier this week.
I really liked the wrapping paper art, but the boards are actually probably more functional for the space. And I was even able to salvage the wrapping paper for gifts.
And that barn wood has survived 100+ years, so I don’t think I can possibly break it.
Brilliant! Enjoy your roast Beast! ;0D
It looks great! I need to do something like this. I can never think of a cute way to display cards, and usually just end up taping them to the fridge. So Pinterest, right? 😛
Ahh I love them! Much better & festive than our method of sticking them on the wall with washi tape. Then having them fall off periodically, making my heart jump because I think someone broke into our house.
Love it!!
aaaw, love this- love the quote you used!
Love it! Pinning! Too cute!
Wow! So perfect for that wall. Looks terrific!
