Yellow flowery bags – an example of reuse

August 9, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I’m here to show you two of the most recent bags I’ve assembled as gifts.

My favorite part of them – the exterior is a fun yellow tablecloth and the interior is a vintage sheet – both from Goodwill. So, they are totally being recycled for this new purpose. I knew I had scored when I found them. I’ve been saving them to make something special.

The first bag is a smaller purse-type bag for my mom’s birthday. Her favorite color is yellow, so I knew this would be perfect.

I added a few pockets inside for her cell phone and keys .

And then I put together a flower for the outside.

The second bag was a bit larger for Miss Effie.

I made ruffles to show off the flowery fabric.

And I added a different type of flower.

They both turned out to be floppy, summery, cheery and eco-friendly bags. I hope both the birthday girls liked them.

I kinda adore them. And, now I’m thinking I may need one, too.

What do you think?

Oh, I love the flower embellishments. And the cheery yellow! I am apparently WAY behind on blog reading, how did this happen?

Simply beautiful! I can’t believe you found those pretty fabrics at a thrift store. I never see nice fabric or table cloths like that, good job!

Ya know what? You’re a genius. Simple fact. I know must make my mother a purse for her b-day. Oh, and my niece probably needs one too. And a pencil roll! Hey, maybe you should head back to the Lou and do it for me… I’m tired just thinking about it.
