There is an Arizona

April 13, 2010 by Kim Woodward

What was I thinking? You’ve probably been losing precious sleep over where in the world Ryan was when he took the photo in the last post.

Shame on me. To leave you hanging like that.

Many of you were right. Ryan has been spending his time north of the border in Canada (or Canadia, as both Freckles Chick and my husband prefer to call it). Banff, to be exact. He got home on Wednesday, and then we jetted off for a little vacation first thing on Thursday morning.

This time, we headed south.

There is indeed an Arizona, all country songs aside. And, we spent four lovely days in the Phoenix area, soaking up the sun, avoiding rattlers and having a fun but relaxing time.

The sky was an unbelievable shade of blue. There were yellow and orange flowers blooming everywhere. Arizona is just a beautiful place, and particularly in April.
And, if you are up for a little jealousy, here’s a family picture of us in my parents’ backyard.
(I don’t think I’d ever leave a lawn chair – or the hot tub – if that was my backyard.)
They were the most amazing hosts (as always). We took a boat ride through the mountains,

Stopped by a ghost town,

Went hiking,
and spent lots of time lounging by the pool and in the hot tub. (And, I have the sunburn on my previously transparent body to prove it. Sunscreen and all.)
Don’t you wish you were related to my mom and dad? Sorry – They’re taken.
So, how much have you missed us?

Hi I was just perusing your photos, never been to Arizona but it looks very pretty. So different from the landscape in Chicago.

I also couldn’t help noticing in the last photo of your parents, the cactus behind your dads head looks as if hes almost putting 3 fingers up behind him(like an indian feathers?). Kind of a natural occurrence to have happen. It’s one of those photos that are one of a kind. love it.

Oh it looks like you had so much fun! And the weather….and the scenery. I just may be a little jealous. And of course I noticed your absence around blogland and was hoping you were off doing something fun instead of being overworked!

So glad you two had such a great time. Your photos are amazing!

The family and I went to meet the grandparents in Tucson in March. It’s such a change from MN.

Glad to have you back. But happy you had a good time. AZ is pretty and all but I couldn’t live there, I’m not a desert girl.

I love going to Arizona! It’s just so beautiful all you want to do is take lots of pictures and lay out enjoying the nice weather (before the summer hits of course!).

Great pics! That ghost town looks familiar. Is it Oatman? My family went there when I was 12 and some donkeys tried to eat my and my sister’s shirts.
