Takin’ this show on the road

January 31, 2011 by Kim Woodward

Last weekend we took the Ryan and Kim show on the road to Chicagoland. We got home on Sunday night, at which time I promptly unpacked the suitcases and baked a batch of brownies.

That’s normal.

We were in Chicagoland to see these folks.

Remember how I mentioned that Ryan’s brother and sister-in-law are having a baby? (We call the baby Ron Santo.) Well, Ryan and I made the trip to lend our four hands with some last-minute baby details – painting, finishing some renovation details…

The nursery has been repainted and looks really nice. I showed off my mad cutting-in-the-ceiling skillz. It’s a highly sought-after talent.

I can’t wait to see it all put together with the Seuss decor that my sister-in-law picked out.

Ryan and his brother installed a closet organization system, brought the crib upstairs, put in some woodwork and outlets, and other miscellany.

We also snuggled our furnieces…

And we squeezed in trips to IKEA, Pottery Barn, The Tile Shop and Home Decorators Collection… oh yeah, and Chipotle and P.F. Chang’s.

Can you believe that I live without all of these places?
Me neither, friends.

Three things that caught my eye in the meccas…
I want this entire bathroom (via The Tile Shop)

and this rug (via Home Decorators Collection)

and these deep bathroom sinks (via IKEA)

And speaking of beautiful bathrooms, I love my sister-and-brother-in-law’s guest bathroom. I want this exact color somewhere in our house. It’s lovely.

I even shot the lid so I wouldn’t forget it.

So that was our little weekend jaunt.

The NewlyWoodwards will work for IKEA… and Chipotle burritos.

Can’t wait for Ron (or Ronita) Santo to get here. I’m pretty sure he/she will love Pottery Barn… and the favorite aunt and uncle. (Hint: That would be Ryan and I.)

How was your weekend?

What a fun weekend! Your fur-nieces are so adorable. And I’m jealous of your Ikea trip and all those bathrooms! I need some inspiration like that right now for our basement bathroom.

I don’t have a Chipotle either and I’ve never been. Of course, I’m just fine with taco bell so I’m not sure if I’m missing anything. And is that Home Dec Col the same place as the catalog? With affordable stuff? If so, I didn’t know they had a store and I must find one!

I wanna roll around with dogs on the floor too. And I like your sweater, you look so cute.

Sounds like a fun trip. It’s sad that we don’t live close to an IKEA, too. It bums me out!

I love that rug….I have seen it for sale in the grey/blue color on Overstock.com for peanuts before, not sure if they have it right now?

What an awesome weekend!! I’m flabbergasted that you have survived this long without Chipotle – I would DIE!!!! This girl needs her burritos. But then again, I am from the land of TexMex.

What a wonderful weekend with family! It’s hard to believe we live without all the amenities (PB, IKEA, etc) out here in the sticks. 😉 Amazing bathrooms!!! And the paint color….totally stealing it.
