Quilting like a maniac

October 30, 2013 by Kim Woodward

Linked up to Weekend Bloggy Reading on Serenity Now.

I mentioned that I’ve been in seriously quilt mode lately for Sew Midwestern projects. So,it’s high time to share what I’ve been up to lately. (Thank goodness Michelle and I are doing this together – I can barely keep up. And thank you for all your orders.)

First, a custom order for Michelle and I from my friend Amanda at Serenity Now. She’s having a sweet baby boy soon and wanted a strip quilt to play into a puppy dog nursery theme. We used some of the fabrics from the Moda Bliss line and then some other themed puppy prints from fabric.com. The blue chevron is a really fun touch for the backing and binding.

Next up was a custom order from Carrie. She ordered queen and baby size pennant quilts for her son’s nursery. But the coolest part is that she sent us the pennants that were used at her wedding.

I am so mad at myself for not taking better photos of these quilts, but it was totally dark outside and I was in a rush.  I will try to get some photos from Carrie when they are in her nursery. Trust me – they turned out really cute. And that queen size quilt definitely stretched me.

Finally, another custom pennant quilt order in coral and gray. I love the combination of colors and the traditional backing on this one.

As an aside, you should be aware that if I make you a quilt, it will definitely be pre-snuggled by my toddler. He believes that any quilt in our household belongs to him. I was trying to take pictures of this quilt when he pulled it down and did this. He gave it his approval, by the way.

I have a few more projects on my sewing table right now. I’m just celebrating finishing a few!

Gosh you are so disgustingly talented. 🙂 So nice that you have the kiddo pre-cuddle them so the buyers don’t have to break them in!

I firmly believe that you have some kind of quilting gene in your DNA that makes you half quilting machine. I don’t know how you do it!

You should totally advertise your quilts that way- “pre-snuggled by extra adorable (Mike Ditka look-alike) toddler” You could probably charge extra that way…hehe 🙂
