Quick gift for a bride

May 27, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I haven’t had much time to sit down and write blog posts like I used to. But, I hope that I’ll make some time soon. (Just pretend that you miss me. It’s good for my self-esteem.)

Anyhoo – here’s a peek at a gift I gave to a friend getting married this weekend. I just wanted to get her something small, and I think this would be a perfect gift for a shower. (I think I would pair this with some cooking utensils, measuring spoons and/or a cookbook.)

I think any gift with the bride’s new married name is fun, and all brides I know enjoy personalization. And, I just love aprons as gifts for brides-to-be. It’s something most women won’t often buy for themselves. I’ve been getting in the habit of buying or making a fun apron for all my women friends. My maid of honor gave me an adorable apron, and it was one of my favorite gifts. I use it all the time.

I actually (surprisingly) bought this set at the farm store, which is really handy since I had no free time to make one. And, the apron was adorable. Ruffles and buttons and pockets… But, I did embroider the letter on the towels and the name on the apron. *Patting myself on the back.*

I’m getting much better at working my embroidery machine. It’s such a great thing to have to make ho-hum gifts really sing.

So now you know what my favorite shower gift is –

Do you remember your favorite shower gift?

HA! I was just opening my Google Reader thinking, “I feel like it’s been a while since Kim posted!” Life has gotten so crazy I have no time to read other people’s blogs, much less post on my own. Hence all the picture posts! Your gift was adorable, that is a great idea!

i’m not certain what my favorite shower gift was at the time. i think my favorite now is the gourmet cookbook. http://www.amazon.com/Gourmet-Cookbook-More-Than-Recipes/dp/0618374086 the name is misleading–it *is* recipes from throughout the history of gourmet magazine, but it’s very approachable and informative and really, a cooking bible. love it.

my favorite wedding gift was a gurgling cod. =) http://www.shrevecrumpandlow.com/history/gurgling_cod.aspx it’s a pitcher in the anatomically-correct codfish shape, and it makes gurgling noises as water moves around. it’s ridiculous but practical and, in a clean white, totally fits our aesthetic. i think it’s great. =)

You should show your apron. I love aprons and have about 20 links saved for ones I’d like to make. If only I could remember to put one on before getting flour on my shirt. Shower gift? my dishes I guess.

So adorable! So clever! A gift she will always remember………….my favorite wedding gift? OMG….I think I’d have to look at my wedding book. How terrible is that? Guess I didn’t get a monogrammed apron, eh?
