Playing with pattern mixing in the master bedroom

April 4, 2017 by Kim Woodward

I always admire rooms filled with effortless pattern mixing. But mixing colors and patterns is nothing I’ve ever excelled at implementing into our own home.

But, I’m working on it. Starting with the master bedroom.  Slow, baby steps.

I think decorating the master bedroom is always easy to put off – because nobody really see it besides you. But after we finally got the bed put together and the windmill hung up, it was easy to keep adding small details to the room.

A few wreaths here…

And a few frames there. (I like to keep all our “couple” photos in our bedroom – it seems like the perfect spot for our wedding photos and other special photos and artwork.)

And changing out the bedding for our summer bedding was also a fun way to make an easy change.
Just a few different patterns, but I think it works well. And it makes me smile.

If practice makes perfect, than I’m one step closer to mixing patterns like a pro. One tiny little baby step. And until then, we are able to enjoy a great master bedroom space that feels perfectly “us.”

And that’s the best gift of all.

A great idea to begin mixing with pillows! That’s the way I do it in the living room. Not as expensive as upholstering a chair and if you didn’t get the results you expected it can be used somewhere else – maybe!

Wow, your baby steps are looking mighty nice! I also like switching bedding and just finished doing our room last week. It’s a good time to make small but significant changes. Your color choices add just the right amount of ‘punch’ and makes the room come to life . . .good job, kiddo!
