“Merry and bright” vintage light pillow boxes

December 1, 2014 by Kim Woodward

This year, I’m laying low with holiday decorations because … well … 320 square feet doesn’t allow for 12 trees.

I didn’t say I’m happy about it. I’m not. It’s a major downsizing effort for the holidays this year.

Anyhow, I won’t be doing much – or any – holiday entertaining this year. But that doesn’t mean I can’t spruce up the table.

I created this little pillow box to serve as a place card and truffle holder. I think it’s perfect paired with my Fiesta holiday dishes, featuring vintage lights.

Henry and I ate our weight in truffles while creating this little pillow box. And it didn’t take long, so that’s talented truffle eating. We are very gifted.Vintage Christmas lights pillow box entertaining3

I created the box from this light pillow box design in the Silhouette Design Store. I create the box and light from card stock, the wrap from washi paper, and finished the light bulb with silver vinyl for the socket.

This would be a great stocking stuffer! And I love your holiday dishes, vintage lights are the best!

Kim! I just love these! Three things: 1) I love pillows…but pillow place cards with TRUFFLES in them. I’m done. I died! 2) Color is totally my thing in life and I am digging these! Especially those painted Fiesta dishes! And 3) I believe I might have a slight, OK… severe…. case of silhouette envy! One day I will own one of my own and be like you cool kids! Anyways, keep on keeping on. Loving it all! 🙂

just so adorable! I would love them even if there weren’t truffles inside (although, honestly, not quite as much as if there were ;))

Oh I may need to add those plates to my Fiesta collection. I had no idea they were a thing. So cute. I love the pillow box it would make a great gift holder all season long. Could you fit a gift card in there?

These are fun and so cute. I think we all need a reminder to simplify. I tend to go all out, so sometimes I need to remember to tone it down. This is perfect.

You should come decorate my house instead. I have no holiday decorating skills.

Those little boxes are so cute! What a fun party favor. Plus, truffles. Yum.

Mmmm, truffles! Such a cute box. I’m definitely adding a Silhouette to my Christmas list now 🙂

Is there anything a Silhouette can’t do? I love the vintage light bulb!

These are so cute! I still can’t decide if a Silhouette would be a good thing for me or just dangerous. I may never get anything else done again if I had one.

Okay. You’ve convinced me. I’m officially asking for a Silhouette for Christmas. Don’t ask me how I’ve lived without one for so long! Best of luck in your holiday decor downsizing–I know it must be bittersweet!

This is super awesome and you are so right. It goes so well with your plates. How did you make the little dotted texture on the cardstock bulb?
