Sometimes, a fabric speaks to me. When I spotted the fabric that my fabulous friend Mekenzie chose for her beautiful daughter’s nursery, it spoke to me.
It said, “MAKE A QUILT FROM ME. RIGHT NOW.” In Russian.
So, I listened. I immediately clicked over and bought the colorful nesting dolls fabric on Etsy. Then, I debated what type of quilt to make. It needed to make the most of those adorable little dolls.
I finally decided to go with my tried and true pennant quilt.
Then, the entire backing could show off that pattern.
I was able to use other pennants from past quilts, which brought out all the bright colors from the nesting dolls.
It ended up being so very girly with the unique combination of fabrics.
I don’t think any baby (or mom) can have too many. They work for tummy time, walks and snuggling. I hope sweet Evelyn will get a lot of use out of the quilt and know that it was made with love.
What do you think?

such a sweet idea!! blog friends are the best friends 🙂
Adorable! That fabric is gorgeous! I want, I want!
love that fabric! I took a year of Russian in college, but we never learned how to talk about quilts. Our textbook was mostly all about small apartments and long lines at the grocery store.
Well, clearly nothing useful then. Apartments? Groceries? What about sewing and quilts? 😉
It is such a cute quilt. I saw it when Kenz posted it on instagram and was in awe. It will look great in Evelyn’s room. Nice job!
Thank you so much! It was fun to make!
It’s so beautiful Kim! I love the bright colors. You have a gift!
Thank you so much, Rachel!
That fabric spoke to me too because I adore nesting dolls. The quilt turned out so amazing.
Thank you! I truly just fell in love with the fabric.
I seriously LOVE that quilt. So pretty. Perfect fabric. It is just perfect in every way and I am totally envious, but in a good way 🙂 You rock Kim! Can’t be said enough 😉
This was the most thoughtful gift ever! I’m so blessed to have you as a friend 🙂 I LOVE the quilt so much! Evelyn looks just as cute as the little nesting dolls laying on it. She’s one of them 🙂 THank you SO MUCH for it. I love it, and you!
You are too sweet. Thank you for letting me whore out your gift on the Interwebs. Hugs!
I like the quilt, but please tell your friend I’m crazy about her baby name Evelyn totally makes my very short list of names … which I won’t use for a long time (hopefully)!
It really is an awesome name. Good choice.
So so so cute! I LOVE that fabric. And I always love your pennant quilts! One of these days, I swear, I’ll get around to making one myself. Eventually.
Well, I think you have sweet little baby girl cheeks keeping you busy. I’ll give you a pass.
Adorable!! What a fitting gift too! I can’t wait to see it in Evelyn’s room!
Me either. YOu know it will be amazing.
I’m pretty sure I say it every time you post a pennant quilt, but I adore them. And the nesting doll fabric? Absolutely precious. Makes me want to deck Nell’s room out in it…or the baby’s. But that would require us to know if this baby is a boy or a girl. Ahem, Mr. B….
hahaha…. I suppose you’ll know soon enough. But the wait would kill me. You, my friend, have more patience and self control than I do.
Love it! Great job, Kim! You are SO talented.
favorite ever!!!!! do you make this in adult?
That fabric really was meant to be made into a quilt. It’s perfect!
love it love it love it
PS – I meant to also say, I also love when fabric speaks to me (and it does a lot – LOLOL!)
It’s a blessing and a curse to love fabric so much.
Love that Nesting Dolls fabric! It’s perfect for the backing and to base the quilt on! I love how you used it for a few of the pennants too. I’m sure mom & baby love it!
I LOVE it!!! :):)
Wait never mind…I see the answer to that. Duh
It is fabulous! Where did you get the fabric?
