Nesting dolls pennant quilt

January 20, 2014 by Kim Woodward

Sometimes, a fabric speaks to me. When I spotted the fabric that my fabulous friend Mekenzie chose for her beautiful daughter’s nursery, it spoke to me.

It said, “MAKE A QUILT FROM ME. RIGHT NOW.” In Russian.

So, I listened. I immediately clicked over and bought the colorful nesting dolls fabric on Etsy. Then, I debated what type of quilt to make. It needed to make the most of those adorable little dolls.

I finally decided to go with my tried and true pennant quilt.

Then, the entire backing could show off that pattern. Nesting dolls pennant quilt2

I was able to use other pennants from past quilts, which brought out all the bright colors from the nesting dolls. Nesting dolls pennant quilt4

It ended up being so very girly with the unique combination of fabrics.

I don’t think any baby (or mom) can have too many. They work for tummy time, walks and snuggling. I hope sweet Evelyn will get a lot of use out of the quilt and know that it was made with love.

What do you think?

love that fabric! I took a year of Russian in college, but we never learned how to talk about quilts. Our textbook was mostly all about small apartments and long lines at the grocery store.

Well, clearly nothing useful then. Apartments? Groceries? What about sewing and quilts? 😉

I’m pretty sure I say it every time you post a pennant quilt, but I adore them. And the nesting doll fabric? Absolutely precious. Makes me want to deck Nell’s room out in it…or the baby’s. But that would require us to know if this baby is a boy or a girl. Ahem, Mr. B….

hahaha…. I suppose you’ll know soon enough. But the wait would kill me. You, my friend, have more patience and self control than I do.
