My husband, the redneck vintner

May 31, 2011 by Kim Woodward

I really love a nice glass of wine. Nothing expensive or fancy, necessarily. I just like wine.

So, my husband has made it his personal mission to make some wine. And, he did it. And, it’s actually quite tasty.

And, would you believe that this wine started with a bottle of Welch’s 100 percent grape juice? The entire thing is actually quite comical.

But, I kid you not. It’s yummy. If you are interested, he used this video about making wine the redneck way. He added a little oak for flavor (from our backyard).

It took several months of “aging,” but when we drank it, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. So, this means that Ryan just started another batch for us.

I think we’ve just taken the DIY to the next level.

And that is love, friends. Making your wife homemade wine.

Husband points, all the way.

The Woodwards can DIY anything! I have seriously never heard of this before and may have to give it a go someday when I have more free time…and can drink:).

Awesome! My husband has recently gotten into beer making and the majority of the batches have turned out well, it really is amazing! There’s currently a bucket of lemonade fermenting in the basement. It will soon be hard lemonade “for the ladies”. Yay for nice husbands!

Is there anything that man cannot do? But for reals, what a talent to have. I’d learn but I’m lazy. And there is a liquor store wayyyyy to close. And yep, we can only buy our wine at state liquor stores in PA. It’s a horrible horrible law. Maybe I should be re-thinking this wine making hobby after all.

So, does this taste more like Welch’s or red wine? Because I like Welch’s…but not red wine, only white.

Who knew you could even do this? Nate even listened to me when I told him abou this…usually I say something like “I found this on a blog” and he makes me stop.

And seriously, how many hours a night do you all sleep? 3? 2?
