Modesty has never been my best quality…

December 8, 2008 by Kim Woodward

I have always had this dream of having our home in a magazine.

Stop laughing.

Seriously, stop laughing!

But, I’m feeling pretty jazzed about having our bathroom featured on This Young House today. I sent it to them several months ago after they asked for before and afters.

To me, This Young House is totally up there with being in a magazine. If you aren’t familiar with them, you have to check out their blog. It’s a mecca of great decorating ideas. And, I love that their ideas don’t break the bank. I also love that they took an older home and make it current – ala Newly Woodwards. Thanks, Youngsters, for the “stamp of approval.” It was a great early Christmas gift.

We have more than our share of before and afters.

So, in the spirit of redesigned rooms (or entire houses), this post is dedicated to showing you our redesigns. Most of our older posts are buried so I thought it was time to shed light to them. Links are to our before and afters.

Befores of our house, including the living room, dining room, downstairs bath and kitchen.

And, our lovely afters, and another after of our homey living/dining area, and another after of our kitchen WITH an island…

Former tiny bedroom to our “now famous” bathroom

“What in the world is this room for” room to office/dog haven with crafting closet

Dirty, drab and graffittied nook to bright and chipper guest bedroom

Downright disgusting hallway and stairway to bright and useful areas with upstairs laundry

Bland and (shocker!) dirty bedroom to our new “master” retreat

Hope you enjoyed our walk through memory lane. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come…

    Wow!
I just found your blog… which is terrible, because you commented on mine AGES ago… what poor blog etiquitte I have!

    but anyways,

I LOVE before and afters. I’m going to spend the next 30 minutes drooling over these. Thank you for posting them. Before and Afters always get me out of design ruts. 🙂

And this is unrelated to the current post… but your Christmas decorations are A-MAZ-ING. Good job!

OMG, that’s huge! Congrats pretty lady. And you already know that I’ve got major house jealous – I ADORE your exterior paint, porch, everything. It looks like a house that WILL be in a magazine someday. Love that we have the exact same table, too!
