Mickey Mouse nursery and a BABY reveal

September 21, 2011 by Kim Woodward

Do you remember our friends Ann and Jon? As Mickey fanatics, I put together this little inspiration board for their baby nursery back in April. Because the parents-to-be weren’t sure of the sex of the baby, they wanted something that could be appropriate for Mickey or Minnie.

Now imagine my delight to see the final product… No, not the nursery (although we’ll get to that). A little girl named Molly Rae. What a miracle.
Don’t mom and dad look great? She was born on our first day in Montreal. So, of course, I had to sneak into that home right away when we returned to have a little snuggle with Molly.
She clearly loves me. It could have been because I went a little crazy at TJMaxx to get her a few wardrobe essentials. (You should have seen Ryan’s face when I brought home a huge bag of pink baby things.) Like this Calvin Klein puffy vest. I die.
Needless to say, she had a few wardrobe changes. Too darn cute for words.
And speaking of too darn cute for words… the nursery is so fun. I think it turned out so well, I couldn’t wait to share.
*Cough, cough* There’s the quilt I made. And the other bedding was made by Ann’s mom. Including this adorable Mickey bumper.
And the curtains were also put together by her mom. I love the yellow buttons, a subtle nod to Mickey’s suspenders.
And because I’m nothing if not vain (I write a blog about our lives, for goodness sakes), I loved to see some of my ideas come to life. Like the old Mickey illustrations, framed around the room.
And the grey walls with the red stripe and Mickey head. (We talked about adding a bow for little Minnie now that they know it’s a girl.)
Molly isn’t sleeping in her room yet, so right now it’s a great home for all the Disney toys.
All the statues were a collection that mom and dad already had. They look so cute in the room.
And do you see those silver Mickey knobs on the dresser and shelf? So cute! (Ann picked them up online.)
And that’s the story of how a small room can really be fun, cheerful, pretty and gender neutral. Perfect for Molly.
We are so happy for Ann and Jon and can’t wait to see more of little Molly. (I’ll bring another casserole and sneak in the back door.)
What do you think?

I made the quilt and would be happy to discuss a custom listing through my etsy shop for something similar.

The bumper and valence were made by my friend’s mom.

      Hope this helps!

What a beautiful baby girl! I love how the room turned out–funny b/c I was thinking the same thing about a bow on the wall. 🙂

And such a stinking cute baby too! She made my ovaries twitch a little…but luckily they have now stopped 😉
