Let there be light (fixtures)

February 19, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I save lots of photos of beautiful homes for inspiration. Lately, I’ve been very attracted to unusual light fixtures. Or at least what I would classify as unusual. Not something I see at Home Depot. 😉 (I may need to get out more.)

I’m obsessed with these lantern-like fixtures. Ryan doesn’t love them.

Maybe these aren’t as much unusual as unexpected.

Its so hard to pick one as my favorite, they are all so unique. I love the chunkiness of them all, if that makes sense at all. 🙂

light fixtures are always the first thing I notice. and no, I venture to say that these probably didn’t come from HD 🙂 though sometimes there are cute lanterns in the outdoor lighting section.

I love light fixtures…it just bums me out that they usually are so expensive. I love the lanterns….they make me think of warmer weather.

I saved that same photo too- the one with the blue tufted table- because of the lights. I just need to find a space to use them.

I love me a good light fixture. I have a thing for sconces lately. When we decorate our bedroom I want sconces on each side of the bed instead of lamps.

I think I like the sconce style ones better than the lantern type. But the oversized lanterns are very pretty. lIke you said, kind of unexpected.

I agree that the lanterns are so fun to look at. I’m sure you can convince him to put one in somewhere!

I love the non-traditional (but still traditional in style) light fixtures. And in a simply hued room, I like bright colorful pendants. Light fixtures are like jewelry – buy basic pieces for your wardrobe and glitz things up with your accessories.

I love them as well, its like bringing the outdoors inside very pottery barn. Tell Ryan I said you should get at least one to hang, even if its in a bathroom ha! Kisses, Rach

I think you like outdoor fixtures indoors. At least that’s what it looks like to me. Hey, it’s way better than boob lights and hollywood dressing room lights! I have a love/hate thing with light fixtures: I love so many, I hate their prices. 🙂
