Back in March, I read the entire Twilight series . Saying I enjoyed it was an understatement. It took over my life for a week, and during that time I did nothing outside of reading and daydreaming about vampires.
Hey. I’m just being real.
Well, I found out that I’m definitely not the only woman who felt this way. My friend Rebecca and I figured that we may as well embrace the fact that we loved Twilight, and not hide it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.
Right? Right?
This got the ball rolling. I decided to host a New Moon premier party at our house, complete with cocktails, food, games and a showing of Twilight. Then, we will all go see the new movie together.
Then a few other gals wanted in. Then a couple more. People actually began reading the books because they wanted to come to the soiree. We ended up giving invites to about 40 people.
haha…. my house doesn’t fit 40 people. But, we’ll figure it out. It’s Twilight after all… magic can indeed happen.
So, we figured that we needed an invite that would set the tone. I mean, it had to be elegant, fun and pretty. Pretty was a necessity.
Then Laura jumped in and volunteered to make the invites for us! (She’s a fan of Twilight, too, will be at the party, and is one of the gals I saw the first movie with.) And, when Laura does something, she goes all out.
Look what we came up with (okay…. Laura came up with most of it, but I was there, too):
The invites consists of lovely black, red and white shimmery papers. I mean… shimmery was a necessity. After all, Edward does, in fact, glimmer like diamonds.
(Please note that Laura has offered a 10 percent discount to NewlyWoodwards readers – check out the sidebar. I also put a watermark on these photos. It may be a little of my crazy coming out, but these were an original idea.)
Laura cut the pieces (including the folder and apple cut-out above) and then we assembled together. I’m pretty handy with a tape dispenser.
So, since the invites clearly set the bar high, we’ve begun planning other aspects of the party. I’ll be sharing the ideas and links soon so if you are planning, you can hopefully get some inspiration.
For now, let me know what you think of the invites and the craze of Twilight as a whole. Are you planning a get-together for the movie premier?

The invites are just amazing. My daughter is a fan and we want to make her a twilight party and i would like to buy invite like yours is that anyway possible?

Magnificent!! They’re gorgeous!
Can’t wait for the movie. I’m contemplating carrying a piece of cold marble tile (from our backsplash) w/ me to the theatre. It’d be like I was holding Edward’s hand during the movie.
Mr. FC will stay at home. It’s only right.
Oh my goodness, those invites made me gasp! What a great idea. You are so crafty, I must now stop blogging since I can’t compare 🙂
Is it stalkerish that I feel like I know you through your blog because I visit it EVERY DAY? Nah–I guess that’s what blogging is about. 🙂 Anyway, after reading this post (and seeing Rob Pattinson in every stinking magazine at the checkout), I have decided to give in to months of peer pressure and watch the movies. But then, I have a complex that I can’t watch a movie until I have read the book. So now I am on my way to the library to get the first book. Look what you’ve done to me. 😉

You don’t know me, but can I be invited too? It was worth a shot, right? 🙂
Awesome invites! I think we’re buying out tickets soon from New Moon. I can’t wait!!
LMAO! Love it 🙂
I’ll be seeing New Moon, too. But not throwing a party.
Fabulous!
m ^..^
My life was nothing but Twilight for the month I read the books. And I want to go back and read them all again! I love the invites, I wish I lived closer, I’d SO be there. Have fun!
Oh and I am team Edward all the way but I totally think that this new beefy Jacob is super hot!
Those are awesome! I want to come to your party! I am totally in love with Twilight. I just finished rereading New Moon to get prepared for the movie. I saw some really cute cookies online somewhere that were jelly filled and then you prick them with a toothpick so that they bleed. I cant wait for the movie and to see how your party turns out!
These are awesome. What a great idea.
those are awesome! i plan on reading twilight & new moon over the next 2 weeks to get in the mood again.. i’ll plan on watching the twilight movie before going to watch new moon. i won 2 tickets to the movie theater a while back and i purposefully saved them for new moon 🙂 eeeeeeee so excited.
LOVE the invites (obviously!)And excellent job with the photography I might add. =)
SUPER excited for the party!!!
AWESOME, LOVE THEM!!!! I’ve been a Twilighter for a few years now and I think brought the original infection to our nest group…actually, I think we may have even been knotties then. Anyway, I’m totally going to see the new movie…in fact, we’re planning a double date with Mel and dragging the hubbies into the mix, hehe. I think I might re-read New Moon before the movie comes out.
Kim, this is awesome!!! I have a bunch of friends who are Twilight fans like me…they are the ones who got me hooked. I was so skeptical before I tried the first book (come on, teen fiction??!). After the first few pages, I couldn’t stop reading and I totally neglected my kids for a few days while I read all of them. 😉
I am beyond excited to see New Moon. Every time someone emails me a new preview, I squeal. 😉 Sure, it’s silly and fluffy and all…but what an intriguing story.
So, I have to ask… you ARE on Team Edward, right? B/c we can’t be friends otherwise. 😉 Kidding…they sure beefed the Jacob character up for NM didn’t they?
Those invites are freaking fantastic. Love them. You original and creative girl, you 🙂
What a great idea!
I LOVE those invites. I am going to be out of town so I won’t get to see it on the day it comes out. I am planning on dragging George to see it during Thanksgiving.
If I lived closer to you I would so be there.
Great job!!
Those are awesome! I think you and I have similar taste in books! My little sister read the series first, I was going to take her to see the first movie, and so I read the first book and of course couldn’t stop! I want to come to your party!!
Wow, those invites are awesome, and I am not even a Twilight fan! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear about all of the other details of the party, and also your take on the new film. Have a great day!
