Holiday home tour: dining room hutches and table

December 16, 2009 by Kim Woodward

Thanks for all your kind comments about hour holiday home tour. Today, it’s the dining room table and hutches. We already showcased the tree here.

To create the “pedestal,” I just put a plate on a bowl. I’m a genius and I invented this technique myself… (Just kidding, people. I’ve seen this everywhere.)
I’m obsessed with my Fiestaware Christmas dishes. They were a gift from my parents several years ago. They make me smile… widely.
And, Christmas dishes #2, which I also adore. Everyone should own at least 2 sets of Christmas dishes. Kim Law. They were a gift from my aunt and uncle. (Let’s pretend like you don’t see the piece of paper sticking out from the bottom door. Mmmmkay?)

Last year, I hung ornaments from the curtain rod (see it here). Ryan and I decided we had quite enough going on in here, so I just hung the DIY pinecone wreaths from our wedding and called it a day.

So, that’s the rest of the dining room. Hope you enjoyed. Everything in this room remains intact – no pug disaster (yet).

Next up in the holiday home tour – the kitchen.

so cute! I like the framed ornament decoration hanging on the wall. It looks like you made it from wrapping paper?

Wow! You have more decorating in your dining room than I have in my whole house 🙂 It looks so pretty – love the ornaments hanging from the chandelier too.

LOVE IT! There are so many pretty things that I am going to file away for next year. But my ultimate favorite is the ornaments hung on the chandelier. I tried to do something similar last year and did not love it (I hung them all at the same height) so I abandoned the idea this year. But yours looks awesome and I am so going to do that in the dining room next year.

Wow you outdid yourself. What a wonderful festive room. Love the ornaments from the chandelier. It is making me regret the fact that i scaled back severely on Christmas decorations this year.

Hey Kim! Wow, you have such a wonderful touch for such a young age. I was still figuring out my style at that stage. Your dining room is beautiful. I love all of the red set against the black furniture and that rug is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see your kitchen! Hugs, Kim

So some days, I’m like oh yeah, less is more, blah blah blah…then I see your house. It looks like a little Christmas village and I want to come visit it! You really do a bang-up (love that adjective) job Kim, brav-O!

I told the hubby I thought we had enough ornaments to decorate a second tree. He told me not to get any ideas. 🙂

You’re so festive! Love the Christmas plates in the hutches. We have some Christmas plates…wonder where I put those after we received them. I’m not so good at festive.

You’re enthusiasm for going all out is mind blowing to me {& I mean that in a good way!}. You’re just going to have to take it ALL down and box it up in a few weeks.

Maybe it’s because we’re in stalled-renovation-mode right now but I’ve got a wreath, window candles, and a card holder for decor. That’s it. I can manage putting that away. I know my limits. I honestly don’t know where you find the energy. I’m in awe of your gung-ho-ness
