Henry is obsessed with the barn. He actually cries when we make him leave.
And when anyone comes over, he has to bring them into his room right away for a tour. And then he shuts the door and makes them sit on the bed. (When my aunt and uncle were visiting, I think there were four adults, a toddler and a dog packed in there.)
It’s not easy to get a photo of such a tiny space (it’s 4.5 x 8 feet). But I wanted to show you how we fit it all in.
The crib (converted to a toddler bed) and the dresser fill the enter wall as you enter. His favorite books are stacked in the basket next to his bed. And I clipped his houndstooth quilt up as a makeshift window covering. I love it there! It’s super cute and darkens the room really well.
For his hanging clothes, we added an IKEA shelf with a built-in bar above his dresser. Unfortunately, when I hung all of Henry’s clothes, the bar broke. But Ryan was able to strengthen the barn and now it works great.
There are still a few things I want to complete (hang the Onion Grove art, do something with the books). But overall, Henry’s happy with his new space. He hasn’t seemed to miss his old room at all (although I did love that room).
And strangely, he seems to stay in his new room much better than he did in our old room. I think he likes that it’s a lot closer to us.
I stumbled across this post after the red bed caught my eye and I just had to comment to say thank you for ACTUALLY having a tiny room! I’ve come across so many rooms described as tiny on Pinterest that just won’t work of our little 8×8 space for our daughter. This post gave me a great idea for her toddler bed!
Hahaha…. tiny spaces are no joke! My favorite are the tiny kitchen ideas and the photos are of kitties the size of our apartment.

It is the perfect size and you don’t have to worry about it getting extremely messy. I especially love the shelf you put above his dresser! Perfect solution for hanging up clothes 🙂
I totally agree about being too small to get messy. Probably need to find a solution for books, but otherwise, it stays pretty neat. (No other options.)

His room is perfect for him. I bet in his eyes, he has no idea how small it is. It’s like when you go back to visit your elementary school as an adult. You realize how wide the halls aren’t… and everything seems much smaller than you remember it. (Maybe most people don’t go visit their elementary school as an adult. The only reason I know this is because it’s where our local voting happens haha) It’s a perfect scale for him. I love that you used his quilt as a window covering. It probably really helps him to have so many familiar things he loves in there.

I’ve said before how much I love Henry’s old room. (It’ll definitely be the inspiration if I have a baby boy someday!) I’m so glad to see it has the same charm in a small space! Especially because the room we’ll make the nursery is small, probably right between his old and new in size.

I think, as a toddler, Henry just loves the size of his new room. It’s like his safe, warm, cozy place and that is all he needs it to be. He’s not at the age yet where he wants to play by himself. Your little apt is perfect for him at this stage of the game!

I love that H pillow!! His room is so awesome. Is there space under the crib/bed? Maybe you could do some flat pull out storage for his books under there?
I have pretty much filled up under his bed with diapers/wipes/out of season stuff. I definitely do need to find a better solution for the books, but I can’t decide what I wanna do.

I made them for my son’s room and he loves being able to see the front of the books and I love that if he somehow pulls one down it will only be a couple dowel rods and some fabric that fall on him and not a big book case or shelf full of stuff.
