Our family photos

November 6, 2014 by Kim Woodward

This year was the first time we’ve had legit family photos taken since Henry was born.

There were a lot of excuses – we’re too busy, we have a nice camera of our own, Henry is unpredictable, Ryan hates getting pictures taken.

But this year, I put my foot down and booked my friend at Amanda Oakes Photography. She actually went to elementary school with Ryan, so that got his approval. She has little guys, too – so that earned Henry’s approval. And she was very affordable and takes amazing photos. (And no, she didn’t ask me to tell you that. We just love her.)

Sneak peek – this is my favorite photo. Love these guys.

But, as we prepared for family photos (am I the only one who really worries about preparing for photos?), I knew that I wanted to look my best, too.

I mean, Henry would always be adorable. And Ryan would look great. But, momma needed to look good, too.

So, I booked a hair cut with my favorite stylist, Kacey. I bought some new makeup. I found clothes that I felt comfortable in.

I’m practically a model now. (Kidding.)

These were just a few ways I could feel my best for family photos. NewlyWoodwards Family Photos01

And the photos turned out great. I’m already blowing them up to plaster them all over the walls. The truth … I had to bribe Henry with M&Ms for every shot.NewlyWoodwards Family Photos03

The sugar high was a small price to pay.

And having photos of Henry at the barn is worth all the effort.NewlyWoodwards Family Photos09

This is our new blog photo – right next to our barn. Perfection.NewlyWoodwards Family Photos10

And guuuurrrl, I hear you on this mama gig affecting our bodies in so many ways. I practically crackle, my hair & skin’s so dry. You, for the record, look INCREDIBLE.

Beautiful pictures! Although I had to giggle at the “bribe with m and m’s” part…because that’s the only reason Reagan cooperated for our family pictures!

These photos are so great! We really need to have that done…..you know, before the kids grow up and start moving out!

Your pictures are amazing!! Can you give the details on your outfit, specifically your shirt? It’s so great, such a perfect length, exactly what I have been looking for! Thanks!

Your photos are beautiful! Such a cute little family. And isn’t it nuts how having a baby changes all sorts of weird things in your body? Like, the stretch marks you’re prepared for. But then there are all the other weird details that no one tells you about.

Oh my gosh, Kim. Your family photos are soooo amazing. I am obsessed with them. Also I totally need to take the Vaseline challenge. I have severe eczema and NOTHING has worked except putting vaseline on my hands before bed and covering them with gloves. It works, but only for about a day. So I’m totally anxious to try this.

Your hair looks absolutely amazing in these pictures!! Such an adorable family. I just love you guys – even though I haven’t met Henry or Ryan so me saying that isn’t creepy at all! I’ll have to try Vaseline lotion out especially with winter coming I’m already getting dry hands!

I love all the photos!! Excellent job :). Because we are suffering from Santa Ana winds in SOCA I was excited to read about the vaseline product and went immediately to Walmart and got a bottle. It feels SO good. I am looking forward to the relief. Let you know how it goes after the 5 days 🙂
