Easy DIY cupcake toppers

May 16, 2014 by Kim Woodward

Today’s fun kitchen bridal shower craft could really be for any celebration – cupcake toppers.

Can you believe I’ve never made these before? These were so stinkin’ easy, I’m planning to make them for every party I plan.Kitchen Shower Welcome Table2

What a fun and simple way to tie into any theme. For these, I used my Silhouette to cut a 1.5″ circle with a kitchen utensil cutout inside (spoon from the shape fork, spoon and knife and rolling pin and oven mitt from the shape ‘cooking’ utensils). I used the Silhouette adhesive Kraft paper (provided to me at no charge as part of being a Silhouette design team member). I love this paper so much. So handy for so many projects.DIY cupcake toppers1

Then I cut a second circle out of red and aqua card stock. I attached the toothpicks to the paper with hot glue and then used both the circle and the cut outs on the red and aqua card stock circles.

It gave the toppers a variety of looks, and also used much less paper. (I only used one piece of the Kraft paper.)

We purchased simple white frosted cupcakes from the grocery store, and the toppers took them up a few notches and helped them fit perfectly with the theme.

My mind is racing with all the topper-bilities.

Happy weekend, friends.

Thanks! I am kicking myself for not making them sooner. What a simple way to dress up store-bought cupcakes.

adorable! I decided cupcake toppers are totally the way to go when I did them for Abe’s party. No more trying to figure out how to decorate a cake competently!

Totally. Esp. since I would never have decorated a cake. 😉 I’m many things, but not a baker. Maybe someday.

Everyone needs a silhouette 😉 Love it
And I also adore the new header.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if I loved the header, but it’s growing on me. And if you like it, it must be working. =)
