Christmas… to the dogs

December 27, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I know that it’s that time of the year that the entire blogosphere recaps their holidays, gift by gift by gift. And, while that’s totally fine and I’m sure you are losing sleep over what Ryan and I received for Christmas, I figured it was more interesting first to get a few glimpses of our Christmas through the pugs.
Because they are much more intriguing.
I added some captions because I felt like it. Yes. I’ve become that girl. The one who writes an entire blog post around the premise of dog quotes.
“Remember when you said that Santa may disregard my prior naughty-ness if I put on this hoodie? I think you were lying.” – Franco, Christmas Eve
“You don’t really expect us to go out into the snow, do you? Without any more protection than a lousy sweatshirt? What do you think we are, animals?” – Franco and Lola, Christmas Eve“For real, mom. Let us in. Now!” – Franco, Christmas Eve. (Editor’s note: This photo was taken from the back door.)

“Why is dad plowing the street? Doesn’t the city do that?” – Lola, Christmas Eve. (Editor’s note: Yes, there are indeed plows. But Ryan likes to play on the Cub Cadet.)

“We have to work to earn our keep around the Woodward household. Dishes are our favorite chore.” – Lola, Boxing Day Brunch.

“All this work is exhausting.” – Franco and Lola.

“The thought of table scraps makes me get all crazy.” – Lola, Boxing Day Brunch.

“Why can’t it be Christmas every day?” – Franco and Lola, Christmas.

What do your pets think of the holidays?

Our dogs hate the cold too and I haven’t been able to find any sweatshirts that the Mr. approves of… Nothing too fruity for his beastly boy. Where did you find Franco’s sweatshirt?

Kim this is SO cute! (I’m totally the person who would see Christmas through my pets too). 🙂 Merry Christmas.

I read in a book on Pugs once that one characteristic that denotes good breeding is their “large globular eyes”. Now every time Jenna, my daughters pug looks at me, I tell her to quit giving me the “globular” eye. 🙂

Aw, I liked reading about Christmas from the pugs’ perspective! 🙂 I can safely say that our dog had a good first Christmas. He got to play with a lot of other dogs in the family and was absolutely EXHAUSTED when we got back home! Which is good for us, too. 🙂

BTW, I really like your new blog design!

I love it!! Pretty sure our pups disliked Christmas this year because it meant 12 hours at home alone. : ( They were, however, a huge fan of the tissue paper.

LOL! I have become “that girl,” but in regards to my baby, not pets (we don’t have any).

So cute!! I had some good doggy photos, but my post got too long, and I had to edit. Emma totally knew what the stocking was when I took it down. She got a new stuffed raccoon and immediately “killed” it when I gave it to her. 🙂 Penny was content with the treat. 🙂

So cute! Their little faces are so precious, and they go perfectly with your quotes.

I tried to take a festive photo of my dog by the fire, so I laid a treat over there. She refused to go near it for some reason. However, I got several shots of the cat munching on the dog’s treat. Sigh.

Our dogs live with us at my inlaws who are Jewish, so when we left for my parents place on Christmas eve I told my dogs that they’re Jewish and don’t get to celebrate Christmas. I felt bad, but luckily Santa brought new toys for them anyway.

Hahaha…I love it. We had Christmas with Chester, my parents’ golden and my sisters’ little white rescue. It was a blast, especially when they found one of those talking gift bags. PS- I love Franco’s eyes in the backdoor pics, like he is plotting against you.

I, too, have turned into that girl. This was our puppy, Abby’s first Christmas. My hubby and I were convinced that she thought it was the best day ever! She enjoyed the presents Santa left her and then got spoiled rotten at her grandparents as well.
