Blue Ball jars and hydrangeas

August 2, 2012 by Kim Woodward

I have few collections, but these blue Ball jars are really starting to become a full-fledged collection in the Woodward home. I just can’t stay away. I can find them EVERYWHERE around here, they are inexpensive, and they look so pretty in my dining room.

I especially like the largest jars. And the zinc lids.

I spotted a crate of the blue jars at one of my favorite places last week (Sisters Garden and Bloom). So, of course I grabbed them as quickly as I could (you should have seen the looks I got in the store with a crate of blue jars, a world globe and a baby Henry in a Moby wrap). And I realized I hadn’t shared them with the world.

How dare I hold out on you?

Here’s my little corner hutch, looking all yellow and blue cheery.

I also filled several of the jars with the most gorgeous hydrangeas from my mother-in-law’s yard.

I’m kind of obsessed with them.

I’d love to keep them dried for fall arrangements. But right now, they are looking pretty lovely in the dining room.

And I’ve determined that the next house WILL have hydrangeas.

It’ll be my next collection.

Blue and yellow look so pretty together. Isn’t it funny how collectable these jars have become? I was lucky enough to inherit a bunch from my grandmother and I enjoy using them so much. My mom uses several in her kitchen as canisters.

Thanks for stopping by my blog from Amanda’s. I haven’t been here in a while and have missed so much. I’m following along now!

Oh, Kim. I’m afraid you may have to join me in starting a treatment program for jar hoarders, er, collectors. I love ’em too!
Enjoy it girl, before it gets out of hand!!! ;0)

Brian’s grandmother gave me two of her blue bell jars that were HER mother’s- I love them too. Every time we put them out I feel like my house has a little more spunk.

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog! Maybe the list is attainable 🙂 Hopefully I will see yours soon!

They are awesome. I believe there is a Ball museum in Muncie. I went to Ball State University in Muncie, and the town was crawling with Ball jars 🙂

Ooooh I love the blue jars. And I LOVE hydrangeas- in the Pacific Northwest where I’m from, they grow like crazy. Not as well down here in the south but I’m trying REALLY hard to keep the two I have alive!!

[…] I have collected vintage blue Ball jars for years, but I decided to purchase the new blue jars for this projects. Mostly because I wasn’t sure how the vintage versions would hold up outside. They were around $1.66/jar. […]
