Bedroom bliss

October 19, 2009 by Kim Woodward

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. If that is the case, then I am full of flattery… for others.
An example – I found this photo on Rate my Space many, many moons ago.
I loved the room then. I love it now. I needed inspiration for our master bedroom. I didn’t want it to be too girly, or too masculine. I thought this was a good blend. While I didn’t want our bedroom identical, I did like the serenity of the blue, the contrast of the blue, black/brown and white, and the letters.
I have a thing for letters (along with most of the Internet).
Ever since we’ve gotten married, I have put letters and monograms anywhere I could. On a necklace, a ring, a shower curtain, a window in our dining room…
And, now we’ve finally “lettered” our bedroom wall.
Here’s the bedroom’s most recent before.
I liked it. It was much better than its beginning. But, I wanted to change it up. There was a lot of squareness going on.
And I like to think that Ryan and are anything but square.
The vinyl is from my friend, Laura. Visit her at her online store to find lots of beautiful things. I highly recommend her. Don’t you love the swirlies?

I think it looks great. And, I certainly prefer it to the ceiling tiles that were there before. But, they were nearly free, so I’m not worried about them losing their home.

I love making little changes that seem to make the room look totally new.

What do you think?

For the love of all things holy–just when I thought this space couldn’t get any better. Your bedroom’s so beautiful, I sorta want to cry right now. The colors, the bedding, and now that monogram. PERFECTION.

I definitely like the monogram better than the tiles. I love monogrammed stuff too!! But they are always out of “A”s

Oh em gee! That looks fantastic!! I had to do a double take on your new room photo – I totally thought it was from a magazine, then I realized that was a custom decal. =)

How did the application go? Did you do the hinge method and cut flaps like we discussed?

That’s a lot of decorating punch with a small change! Love your monogram… it’s neat that you can get those in vinyl. It would be hard to stencil something that perfect.

    Happy Met Monday…

    XO,

    Sheila 🙂

    I LOVE it!

I can’t tell from the picture–are your walls textured? Ours are heavily textured, which is the only thing that’s stopped me from doing the same!

It’s fabulous – I think the round shape is definitely necessary over the square headboard. Love it!

What’s the color on the bedroom walls?

I really like it! What’s crazy is that was the same inspiration room for our bedroom–same exact RMS post! We ordered the initial and the scrolls, and we love them!
